0ld big block twin in Dragon chassis - First hand experience please

Ok, I'm starting to have this crazy idea roll around in my head. I have an edge RMK with the full Carl's Cycle 910 in it. I haven't modded a sled since building this one, thought that was out of my system. But lately I've been thinking I might want to do some more mod works.

So I naturally thought about stuffing the 910 in to a Dragon (09/10) chassis. Maybe and 08, but I like the looks of the 09/10 better.

Anyway... first hand experience, who has done it (not a 910 necessarily, but the 700/800) and what was your experience?

Thanks,

I put my old reliable 700T motor in a Dragon chassis. Reason was that the efi turbo's were still in their infancy and we had the 7 down pretty pat. It was really a prett simple switch. We gutted the entire thing, built our own wiring harness.

We did mine with a Holz plate. They are not made anymore. (That's a good story) We got mine out of a wrecked sled. At the time with Brads plate, you had to cut up the bulkhead. His dropped the motor in a couple inches or so.

That would probably be important to you. That supposedly allowed enough room for twin pipes.

Coolant lines, we used combo of the dragon lines and edge lines. I don't remember in stock form if the oil tank and coolant bottle were together. We yanked the oil tank. So the only tricky part was locating the coolant bottle.

I think the only obstacle for you would be a air box. I don't know if you could modify a 600 air box or not.

I even yanked the stock fixed clutch cover. I built a flip up off a 600 or 900 clutch cover. I was very annoyed by not being able to flip it up and get in there.

Mine uses a belt from the race sleds.

I have really enjoyed it. It's been a labor of live so to speak, working on it over the years has also been my way to check out from life. There is hardly a part on it that has not been massaged. I have debated, but it's time to move up to a pro. I would like to move my set up along with it, but it's time for efi. Makes me nervous, the old girl has never let me down.

02-05 VES800 in an IQ chassis

I had an 05 RMK900 chassis with the 02-05 800, all the wiring out of an 05 and had the 900 stripped out of all the heavy stuff! It was a pretty good sled and always ran! The engine plate I think was made by SLP, I'm sure somebody makes an engine plate to do the swap you are talking about!

was a pretty simple deal, power addiction sells the plate, i recommend adding a bottom plate to the motor also, not for strength for clearance for the carbs over the driveshaft
delete the oil inj. there is no room for the pump. and i am putting slp twins on now, it requires a slight mod to the pipes to get the right angle. i first had a '99 700bb with a turbo in there, so i just cut and welded the manifold, i now have an engine-tech 930 in it. the twins look easier, just alittle tweak over to the right, and a bit of angle. the belt is off an iqr, 10 5/8 ctoc. and i used the stock pump wth a gutted original press. reg. and a bridge rectifier to get the dc voltage. fuel then runs to an adj press reg. all the wiring was hand done but very simple. i can email you some pics if you would like. i'll take some while the pipes are off so you can see stuff. umvrhoo@yahoo.com

Dan I build a direct bolt on plate we have done 2 910 Carl's motors in them personally. The plate runs 185.00 and fuel block off plate is 15.00 call me if you want one.
