0bama, thanks for making our point for us!

Maybe I'm missing something, but today he tries to ans'r a question about private health insurance vs 0bamacare, and ATTEMPTS to make the analogy that UPS and Fedex do fine as private companies, and the clumsy punch line:
"it's the Post Office that has all the problems."

Well Duhhhhh!

Post Office = Government entity, which BTW will be closing over 100 offices beginning next month, and the same Post Office that runs a debt in the low Billions every year.
Yeah they can manage health care for 300 Million people. Uh huh, sure. :face-icon-small-dis

Of course he was off the teleprompter TOTUS when he said it. LOL.

I wonder what he thinks of himself after he does stupid stuff like that? Obviously he never admits a mistake to anyone out loud, but I wonder what goes on in his mind. Does he get it or does he justify and excuse it to himself?

ya know, I might actually be willing to support obamacare.
but first I want them to get medicaid, medicare, Social security and welfare to work.
All 4 of those programs are a major nightmare. They cost WAY more than they take in and will be broke very shortly.

Run those 4 programs and run them correctly, then come to me.
Till then, not gonna happen.

Got into an arguement today with a guy that loves the idea of obamacare and couldn't understand why anyone wouldn't want it.
I pointed out medicaid and medicare as very bad programs.
He stated that is why we need to reform them.
I countered with, if they can't run those 2 programs, what makes you think they will be able to run a single program 10 times the size of both of the old ones combined??
He had no answer.

Aren't the problem with these programs is that the amount of payers is becoming less the the amount of payees?

With a system that is based on population, generational populations swings and cycles causes boom/bust cycles in the taxes paid to cover the costs. The problem is that there is a generational lag, and with increases in costs, the amount of payments needed to cover the costs would have to change.

Kind of like this.. total cost / total payers = amount needed to be paid by each payer.

Right now we are seeing an increase in total costs, and a decrease in total payers. This will occur for quite some time as babyboomers start to get old, retire, and then suck the country dry as the rest of us pay for their health care.

They should all be scrapped and brought into the fold of health care reform. Except for social security, that should just be scrapped all together..

OK, no problem lets bring them all in. Start with President Obama and his family first, then Congress and their families, and then the Boomers.

I'm still waiting to get a good reason why the President and Congress can't use Obamacare. Isn't that a basic quality of leadership to never ask those you lead to do something you aren't willing to do yourself?

As soon as those arrogant @$$holes we call leaders get done signing up for Obamacare why don't they either put all of us on the same retirement plan they get, or have them stop their plan and use the same retirement system we all get to use.

Spoken like a true socialist. I have a quote for ya. Margaret Thatcher, "The problem with socialism is you eventually run out of other people's money."

silly me, I thought the population of the us was exploding............not shrinking. oh, nevermind, you were refering to taxpayers, not freeloaders.

Yep, but you need to look at the percentages of people in what age demographics to get a better idea of what is really going on.

here is a fricken cool link, I found it really quick too.. yes I am that good! ha ha

The changes is percentages of age (more older people then there were before, in relation to young people) is the PART of the problem. A reduction in tax base (few people paying taxes) is also PART of the problem.

Population age demographics is one that will always be cyclical and is very difficult to control. Even China tried to do it...

Check it out, take a look.. Just make sure your thinking cap is on...

Thats why they are called ponzi schemes if operated by private individuals and would end in the individuals with serious jail time. I am sure you would like to scrap SS as you are just starting to pay in but their are millions who have been paying in all their lives and deserve their checks. Swampy:eek:

hmm... one of them entitlement folks ah? ;) Nah, it is their screwed up system, they need to deal with it.

Just paying into it? If just is a decade....

Ya I am sure that factors in the millions of young illegals that pay no taxes and suck off the welfare system. I love how a taxpaying wage earner making 30k a year brings home 23k after taxes. Then an illegal alien that makes the same brings home 40k a year after welfare and not paying taxes.

However, people that are 75+ get back every dime they paid in plus interest in one year. The rest of thier lives they live off of everyone else.
People 65+ get every dime back plus interest in just under 2 years.

The other problem is that back during the carter years they moved SS from a set aside (as it was intended) and put it in the general fund. At which point the dems and republicans looked at this HUGE pot of money as a cash source and began spending it. 40% of our national debt is money owed to ourselves.

Had they left the money alone, that money plus interest would be enough money to hold SS up through the baby boomer era.

The feds have to make the hard choices and decide where to draw the line. At some time they have to admit that SS is broke and can't pay out, or they have to put a cap on it and anyone over X amount, no longer gets SS.

Personally, I want OUT of SS. I can manage my money a lot better than any politicians.

NOT!
If the feds can't run these programs, how are they gonna run one 10 times bigger??

IF they have population driven money problems now, immagine what it will be like when anyone that can sneek into this country illegally gets free health care no matter what the problem is. They showed an illegal in a hospital in california. It has cost the hospital over 11 million dollars to keep this pos alive. His own country (hondorus (sp?)) won't take him back because they don't want to deal wiht the cost of his medical.

Bottom line to me is, the feds can't balance their budgets, they can't run a successful social program. These aren't feelings, they aren't just observations, these are demonstrated facts. They arn't even trying to balance the budget.

You might look at what the amounts paid over those years, if they had been put in investment accounts the accrued amounts would dwarf what most recipients ever receive and there is no inheritence of any balance, sometime do a calculation of what you have paid and continue to pay using a compounded equation and see what it comes to after 45 years, you would be amazed. So they are not living off anyone else their money and increase was stolen from them over their working lifetime. Also you would be amazed at how much money is spent on people who are perfectly capable of working but get under some disability program, alcoholism etc, as well as immogrants who can immediatelly receive SS benefits. An immigrant from the asian countries can immediately apply for SS and get more income than a woman who has worked all of her life and retires. Don't you think american workers who pay in their whole lives deserve more than an immigrant who has never paid in a dime! And I have a clue for you it has never been a set aside and the supreme court has ruled you have no right to the funds, it is a welfare scheme.

Do you think you are the only one!! Weve all wanted that for 50 years.

But that's my point when I say they need to get the existing programs working then I might trust them to get obamacare to work.
They hand out SS like it's candy. They need to put the brakes on.
The politicians (both parties) arn't willing to make the hard choices they need to make to get these programs working, so they decide to just create another one and say they will make this one work.
I don't trust em.

People my age (40's) will never see the amount back they paid in (plus interest). People in their 20's should be seriously peeved. They are getting hosed.
