New 09 XP. At 40 miles (1.5 hrs), recoiler failed 100%. No melt down, but improper grease by BRP according to dealer. New recoiler, greased with different grease. At 50 miles, recoiler failed, but started working again on it's own. Thanks BRP for including the emergency starting rope, never had to use one in 40 years of snowmobiling until now.

Had the same problem on my first ride on my '09, after numerous attempts it finally retracted and has worked since. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Well mine did the same thing and then started to work again. You need to ditch the factory can if you have not already as this huge thing holds so much heat and covers the whole recoil. After i replaced the can with aftermarket i then silver taped the outside of the recoil to reflect heat and installed vents from xxx modrod i have 400 miles on sled and no problems since first time just my .o2.
