09 XP or 06 RT 1000

I am currently riding a 06 RT 1000 with few mods can, fox floats, vented, two wheel kit, and 2300 miles. I am thinking about selling it and buying an 09 XP. Will I miss the power? Or is all the weight loss going to make up for that?

I know that the lbs per hp is higher for the rt1000 than it is for the XP 800R. The RT1000 is 170 hp with a dry weight of 540 or so and the XP is 151 hp with a dry weight of nearly 100 pounds less than the 1000.

But i couldnt tell you how it would feel though riding the XP versus the rt1000 power wise, those are just the numbers though.

I had an 05 RT and it was a great sled, great runner. But there is no comparison, the XP just handles completely better, more nimble, you can do anything on this sled. Yes, you will notice the HP difference, but I also weigh 280 w/o gear so I'm on the heavy side. If you are an avg weight you wouldn't notice it. In fact it might be a little quicker. All in all, no comparison. And my XP will still outclimb my RT with my heavy arse!

RT is closer to 180 stock but still shouldnt matter. XP should take you higher but hard telling. will know this year as my cousin bought an xp

Go with the XP...it's time to upgrade to the new chassis and enjoy the benefits of the weight loss. You will forgot all about that RT in no time!

There is now comparision. Although set up right the M1000 (had one of those) and RT 1000 are good sleds, the XP is a way better chassis.

Agreed! My cousin (Big John) rides a modded RT1000. It goes good and pulls hard, but it feels like your riding a sheet of plywood compared to the xp.

A married man once told me........
He had this tiny girlfriend back in the day who he used to throw, spin, and do all kinds of accrobatics in the sack with her. Now that he's married to this 'bigger' girl, and well, she throws, spins and tosses him around in the sack

Sort of the same thing going from the RT to the XP only different if you know what im saying.

Hope this clears things up.

Had that spinner years ago, (distant memory) and stilll ridin the RT this year...:beer;

is that a trend for us thirty somethings?

havent got to ride an XP, the RT is definately a heavy sled, but the power of the RT is addicting especially with some light engine mods.... i might get mine ported sometime, add some higher comp domes, bring that sucker up to the 190+hp range, that thing will be a good one!!

I was thinking about this as well....but riding my brothers 800 (not XP) I just cant get away from the power of the 1000...I would have to ride an XP for a good day to see how I like it before I ever parted with the RT...

and I just got my sled dyno'd here not to long ago....here are the numbers of my sled...

this is a complete stock engine...only mod I have is a TSS Can which we all know wont gain you anything...

DYNO: (you can also see the weight of my sled on there and that is with just over 3/4 of a tank of fuel....so add around another 10-15 pounds when the sled is completely full of liquids...)

Heres a picture of my sled:

I just sold my RT 1000 for an 08 XP X. I road with a few guys last year with the new XP and I still liked the one ton, but it was time to upgrade. Just put a big bore kit on it and you will have all your hp back!!!

i am also in this same boat, i want to buy a 2005 rt with 162 track, or an 08 or 09 xp with 162, tuff call
