09 xp 800 driven spring?

Just got a new spring for it and have heard it is a pain to change without special tools. How bad is it?

You'll need the tool or you won't be getting it back together.... or maybe apart for that matter. There's quite a few guys that sell their version of the tool for less than Skidoo. Believe Dynamoe Joe has a tool, Think Cudney does too.
I just bought the tool from BRP, figure this secondary would be around for a while.

It can be done but you'll want to have 2 people. It's under alot of pressure so someone needs to hold it together when you remove the 4 Torx bolts, and to help squeeze it back together. The tool makes it much easier and safer for both the clutch and you.

The 4 torx bolts come out a lot easier if you pull the clutch/jackshaft out. Heat those torx bolts with a torch to soften the lock tight them too. the helix can be removed with out the tool, the tool just makes it a lot easier and safer. I would replace those 4 torx bolts with hex headed bolts. Makes it much easier to remove the helix in the future without pulling the jackshaft.

Thanks for the help everybody. Did it last night and was not to bad. No tools and did not remove from sled. This web site is awesome, much better then calling the dealership and getting the run around!
