09 VW tdi

A buddy I know has had an 09 Jetta TDI for about 6 months...best he gets is 62 MPG and loves the car...We have an 08 2.5 Gas.....VERY solid car, and surprisingly a very good handling car....Quite impressed actually....No issues .......YET!

Yeah. Could be. After shopping for small cars last summer (we drove and looked at everything around) we came to the conclusion that the VWs became rattle traps around the 70-85k mile range. Even the used car dealers said so. LOL

I disagree.

Those cars are WAY tighter than any other car I have driven with miles on them. I truely am a personal testimony to that. I have 5 miles of rough azz gravel everyday and have a Passat that I put 175k miles on it then sold it to a friend. He still is driving it today with right at 300 and car is still decent. My 05 Passat has 126k miles on it now and it drives like new. Had some clients with me a couple weeks ago and he owns a Toyota dealership, He made statement that the car was tight and couldnt believe the miles it showed.

As for the 09 models my friend that bought the Passat also bought a 09 model. One week into it he hit a deer and I fixed it for him. The car doors are TRIPLE gasketed for a nice quiet air tight ride. just one of the things they are doing to increase quality.

My friends 06 Passat TDI is an amazing car. There quality is some of the best and it gets just over 50mpg! So you get better economy than a smart car without looking like a snide hippy ******* that thinks he's single handedly saving the world.

Find a 06 jetta or passat to buy due to all the emmisions crap they started putting on after that year.

They didnt build a TDI in 07 or 08 and the 09 (2.0tdi) is a much better engine than the previous TDI's (1.9tdi) , much more power, quieter, but the same great fuel economy and it passes the latest emissions standards. In fact it beat out all the hybrids to win the green car of the year award this year.
Yes I sell VW's :D.

and it qualifies now for the 1300.00 energy incentive.

Are they putting the TDI in the Passat yet? I have an 08 Turbo gasser, tons of power and great milage.

140k on our 04 1.8T and it is totally solid. not a bad little car

A few electrical demons around 60,000km but was all warranty.

110K miles on a 04 Jetta GLS 1.8T.

Not sure on the other motors (TDI, 2.0) but the 1.8T uses a plastic impeller on the water pump and at about 75K it finally slips on its metal shaft and your toast. The cost for replacement is about $700+ mostly due to labor. (location).

From a body standpoint I have zero rattles. Its a solid car.

Had a 2006 TDI.

It's a lot like a Dodge Cummins Truck. Great motor put inside of a crappy car.

The motor was awesome and consistantly saw over 40 mpg and up to 50 mpg. Great torque, that thing would fly over the pass. But that older body style had to many things I didn't like about it. Def. a European car with the dial seats and other poorly designed gadgets. I actually miss the car because of the fuel mileage. I was seeing 600 miles a tank.

My younger brothers drive an 03 TDI to high school. They have been moding it out over the years. It has 110,000 miles 40,000 with 30 horse injectors an aftermarket turbo, a bullydog chip, a new fuel pump, and dual 3 inch exhaust. It went from 45 miles a gallon to about 35 but it almost doubled the horse power. It smokes like a hopped up cummins. The chip has now been pulled off and milage has gone up some. They did eat up a tranny so these 90 horse stock components were not ment to be modded, but it is kind of a fun little car.

03 1.9 TDI with 160K on it
Still getting 45 mpg. Still pulling a trailer all weekend (sled and bikes)

Problems: air dam grills all broke out. radio knobs fell off. drink holder broke

tiny car with not much space, but it has been bullet proof (knock on wood!)

I would get an 09 TDI in a heart beat if i was looking for a new car...
