09 summit air intake

Having trouble with snow plugging air intake in deep pow. The other sleds I was riding with werent having troubles, but I was always stopping to brush off the air cleaner. I thought the 09's had fixed that from the 08's.

A quick fix is to run a zip tie through the front inside corner of the air box so the foam can't get pushed in. It works real well on mine.

If the foam gets pushed in you run the possibility of water ingestion. I did this the other day with a piece of 12-2 wire.

There was a good topic awhile back where they drilled holes in the top and bottom of the intake and put long upolstry tabs in to hold the air filter from pushing in. I did it to mine and it works great. Ill try and get some pictures.

So the problem is the air cleaner is getting sucked in and letting snow by? I did see some other sleds with aftermarket intakes. Are these not needed if you keep the filter from getting sucked in?

they still get covered with snow--we run a slp cold air intake and a 2 1/2" florite in the top of the air box--

were in the top of the air box do you put the flow rite im have trouble with my 08 it has the slp intake and i have the foam air filter from an 09 behind the 08 screen last weekend in the big horns was a bit much for it the end of my second day it was actting up but so was half the sleds i was riding with

Wyoming T/A that was a great idea. I did it to mine and it worked great

I use the intake screen from a M series cat, take a little time making a template to trace and cut out with a utility knife and/or ROTOZip. I've been trying to figure out how to attach pics-no such luck?

Mine would plug on the inside of the foam portion with snow because the cover did not fit right. i turfed the 09 filter and put in the 08 and modified as per Turboal and have never looked back. once and a while just give her a wipe with your glove and good to go.

I'm using the 08 xp intake screen over the 09 air cleaner. works great so far.
