09 skid M series...small inner idlers

The small idler wheels about mid way on the inside of the rails...any one remove them without resulting problems.

i took the front and middle idlers off and put scratchers on, no problems here

Took the inner ones off mine.

No problems so far.

Left the outer front ones as this is were the most hyfax wear takes place

I'am trying to figure out what parts I need to do a skid conversion from 07 to 09. Figured there was too many idlers. Question if you have a 07 skid and want to change to 09 including rails. To complete the conversion do you just need the rear axle to make it 2 wheeled. It appears the 07 parts will complete the transformation to a 09.

I just did this to my 07.

best/cheapest/easiest way is to buy the "crossfire float conversion kit" out of the 09 cat accessory catalog. I got mine from freeagent on here. You can get the accessory 2 axle kit from cat for like $30. Then you are done. No real need to do rails as all the holes are the same except the 2 you have to drill for the inner idlers. It is more or less a direct fit. HUGE improvement in ride and weight transfer.

I'am gonna use the 09 rails. It appears the cross bracing on the skid is interchangeable. I'am hoping to install the 07 front scissor on the 09 rails and then install the Baker RE suspension for the rear scissor. The RE suspension is independent of the front scissor unlike the OE interlinked suspension..
