Here we go again.

Both great sled's.
Try to demo both before buying if possible.
I like my Poo sleds personally, and like the higher seat on the Poo as opposed to the Cat(of course you'll only be on the seat for a little time)
Dealer support is probably going to be the biggest thing.

My .02 cents :) Pete

"The Cat is the GREATEST sled in the world! The Polaris is the worst sled in the world, eventhough I have never ridden the Poo."

"The Poo is the GREATEST sled in the world! The Cat is the worst sled ever, I know because my 3rd cousin's roommate in college rented one for 14 minutes and hated it."

Well, that should cover most of the input you will get from this site. You need to ride both sleds. They both are great sleds and you will not be disappointed in either one.

I have an 08 M8 sp, and my wife has an 07 600 RMK w/ the we shocks. My dd went out last season so rode my wife's sled a few times, and the first thing I noticed was how much easier it is to turn/get the m8 on its' side. Poo is easy, just not as easy as the cat.

The only complaint on my 8 is the handwarmers suck...would definately buy another cat. My grand master scheme is to sell the rmk in the spring, keep the 8 for my wife, and buy a new cat!

Right out of the box, stock to stock, same track the D8 will walk all over the M8. The D8 is superior in handling, better ride, (with walker Evans or Fox floats) The manevuerability of the D8 is top of the food chain. The only place that the M8 is better would be running down the trail. M8 is easier to control on the trail.

Listen to the people who tell you to ride both or talk to both dealers...If you notice all the people on here preaching Cat have cats and all the people suggesting Polaris have Polaris's. I have neither but i know both sleds are great once you get the updates on the RMK's

My choice...M8

I've owned a D7 and 2 M8's. So I cant comment on the power of the D8. I think the M8 gets the edge in boondocking and takes the cake for reliability. The front end of the dragon comes up easier which can add to the fun factor on some days and take away on others. IMO I would MUCH rather ride the Dragon on trail in. Cats suck on trail and it's a WELL known fact. Who cares though these are mountain sleds anyway.

M8 gets my Vote for sure:beer;

Thanks to all

Thank you for your opinions The desision was made today I purchased a 2009 Artic Cat M8 153 Sno Pro hold over. Going to retire the 2000 yamaha mountain max.
when in doubt power out

id go polaris, but it really depends on which dealer is closer/better. I obviously don't got a cat dealer in the area

What comes to my mind is this ( does any body really know or can prove which is the best sled out there). Sled "A" my kick sled "B" today in "x" snow condition, But tomarrow sled "B" my kick sled "A" today. Every single one of todays sleds has its up and downs. I would have to agree on the cat, I have yet to get on one that will perform with the other two brands (two stroke sleds) I see the cat running good for other people, or it is betraid that way. I ride with all big 4 and there is no one time that just one brand is the best they all have there high lights, and they all have there dark days.

Just my two penny's

Im sure either choice would have been good. Ive ridin my dads 03 polaris rmk 800 159" and a buddys 07 M8. The Polaris had a LOT more noticable throttle response than the M8, seemed like the M8 had better flotation though....
