09 RMK 600 vs 09 M6???

Not wanting to flame up a brand war, but I have an opportunity to buy my wife a new leftover 2009 model of either of these sleds - either a 153" or 155". I would be interested to read about any pros and cons you may want to share on either of these models.

She has ridden mostly trails in the past, but wants to get more aggressive, ride in deeper powder, sidehill, etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

The RMK hands down. I personally feel the Cat 600 stinks. It has no bottom end which would be really hard for anyone who is at all timid. One of my least favorite days out west includes a rented Cat 600 with 800miles on it (ie not worn out) that I was barely able to get out of a bowl at 170lbs (my sled was at the top and I was riding for a much larger friend who had trenched pretty good on the way up)...I fought that thing for all it was worth (not much obviously). And on the way out it was so trail tippy that it found its way into a ravine upside down rather than following the rest of the sleds. The Polaris 600 is brilliant compared to the Cat. Really good power where you want it (no 7/800, but stout). Bullet-proof engine, and the chassis is very forgiving. It also is a much smoother trail ride in than the bang-bang Cat. While the 800 Cat engine is a thing of current legend, the 600 is not quite up to par in my opinion...

But, hey, a sled is a sled and the 2009 Cats are miles ahead of the 2008s due to the chassis updates. But Polaris also got updates in 2009. So, you have my vote....:face-icon-small-coo

I vote for the Polaris as well, but then I am a little biased. I think the Polaris 600 is a very nice motor and should be plenty for your wife. The sled should let her learn how to be a more aggressive rider without scaring her too bad. I like them so much I bought a '10 600 for myself.

buy the polaris 600, just make sure you have her stand on it and adjust the 3" riser block to fit her first, if it's to short she will have to fight the leaning a little during riding, just buy a new 5 1/4" block for about $55 bucks and put it on. the polaris leans and balances better for newbies.
The 600 motor in the polaris is a proven motor over the years and the 155" track is not noticable after you ride a while on the sled. I myself have a 08 rmk 600 with a highmark turbo and this thing rocks. i rode ski-doo for years until i rode my buddys 07 RMK one weekend trip, that was it, sold mine and switch brands. Just my opinion, which ain't much if you ask my wife. LOL
HOPE THIS HELPS

I would go Polaris. I own both chassis and I would say the IQ handles as good in the deep but light years better on the trail than the M. The Polaris 600 will have alot more snap than the Cat 600 as well. You can also regear the poo easier with a chaincase vs diamond drive. Good luck they are honestly both great sleds, but I really think she will be much happier on the RMK.
