09 M1000 Mod suggestions please

I'm a transplanted New Yorker living in tahoe about to start my 3rd year riding in the mountains. Had the 03 1M 900 my first than stepped up to an 09 M1000 pre-order that I rode completely stock last season. I'm looking at putting on a pipe and can, putting some extra screens on the hood and getting a control box. I've been reading the threads for the last few weeks and everyone seems to be beating up on the BD box. I'm looking at the power commander 3 SLP is pushing and the attitude box as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really curious about clutching strategies as well for the new set up. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

a speedwerx y-pipe and can (skip the pipe, doesn't add much), big air kit from speedwerx.....lots of help in other threads for clutching....i use the bd box for that setup, you can pm me for the settings....put them in and go play...

Just picked up the same sled today? I'm going to start with boss seat, side vents, light weight can and break in the sled if we ever get snow in Calif. I'm interested in this thread and hope we get a lot of responses!!

Go with an slp or D&D single pipe system. From all Ive seen they seem to really wake these biatches up!! Good venting and gear it down.

Hey Racefan

RaceFan, did you get a snowpro with the fox floats? My sled is the camo pre-order and came with the boss seat and the floaters....Where in Cali do you live?

I have a 2007 M1000 that I really love, it will climb with every turbo I have came across this far! here is what I did i dynoed it at 221.7 hp it really just rips check it out on youtube! Just type in "RX1 turbo vs ryans m1000 mod"

Bmp pipe, bmp y-pipe, mbrp can
bmp clylinder porting
costom case porting
trued and welded crank
Bmp h/c head
bdx valve ellimanators
bdx oil delete
bdx 56/64 light drive
advanced timing 4 degrees
volk cold air intake
bmp secondary (torsinal conversion)
timbersled rear skid
koso Egts
bd box
simmons gen 2 skis

If your just looking to do a few things I would recomend a y-pipe, a can and a cold air intake. That alone will pick up 10 or 15 hp and drop 25 lbs off the sled this alone really really changes the performance of the sled. Night in day. If you have the money to do a full exhaust setup go with slp it fits grat and really runs good. These sleds stock in my opinion SUCK! but with a few mods youll have sled that will spank everything n/a for the most part and will hang right with the turbos!!!!! Good Luck hope this helps

the 09's have a slightly different intake set up than the previous years so i probably would leave that stock to start with. It has the little vent under the hood so if the two intakes by the windshield get clogged, it can still suck air. At altitude, no na sled is going to run with a turbo sled, so just ignore what these people are saying. at 10K, a piped, ported, etc etc m1000 would get ran over by a turbo m1000. I also have an 09 and didnt' wanna mess with a box or losing warranty so i went with mods that are practical and help make the sled more effecient. I put some frogskins on the hood, speedwerx tunnel dump can to prevent exhaust cap off ("bog" in the deep snow), cpc side vents, boss seat, a gas caddy because of how thirsty these things are, a cpc torsional secondary kit (help put the power to the ground), cpc adjustable weights in the primary, some ice scratchers and a skid plate just in case. No, it doesn't run with turbos but it still is tons of fun and is always just pull cord and go.

M1000 mods

I own 2009 M1000 LE with some mods,it pulls hard
One day I borrowed (for 5min) M1000 OVS turbo(14 PSI) from Dan Bush (thunderstrack films) that thing had so much power there is no mod or big bore kit that will compare with that.So don't get fooled that m1000 with some mods can "hang" with turbos
may be on the trail when they go half trottle

I should have been more clear i was meaning that it would hang with pump gas turbos not race gas turbos that are running 14 lbs of boost and my sled will and has ran right with pumpgas turbos and I have vidioes that will show it on youtube!

Start with gearing, I used the stock gearing from a 09' m8 from BDX, Ypipe from BMP or SLP or any other I really don't think it matter just get rid of the stock one, you must ditch the stock reeds as well, Boyesen or Vforce, I like Boyesen, that along with the Ypipe gets rid of the low end boggs in the 09' 1000 motors. To keep the cost down and help with building heat stay with the stock pipe, get rid of the stock can and pick up a can you like, lots of Braaaapppp or not, I recomend on that advertises the stock air flow. Powder Pro skies SLP are very nice over stock and add some vents if your riding above zero degrees. Good Luck... It will run on pump gas and with out a Boone Docker, I have a Boone Docker and I have leaned it out down low and added fuel up high some but mainly due to our air in Alaska that is much cleaner and more dense.
