09 M1000 factory gauge removal?

I'm putting a mountain fit hood on my 09 M1000 and would like to leave the headlights and gauge off the sled, maybe just put a koso tach or my racepack on instead.
Question is will it effect the way my sled runs? Does any part of the necesary electrical run through it? Do I have to run a resistor? I am currently running a AFE a/f gauge if that makes a difference?
Whats the pros and cons of doing this, any and all info appreciated.:beer;

Since you're replacing it with another piece of electronics, there wouldn't be a problem with draw. The only issue that I would see is that you lose your ability to view codes like the det sensor, or a bad pipe temp sensor....

If you're a decent tuner, these issue may be relatively obvious anyhow, but something like the pipe temp sensor doesn't seem very obvious to me & makes the sled run pretty crappy.

I never really thought about the pipe temp sensor, that could be an issue. As for the det sensor the 1000 doesnt have one and thats why I was thinking of putting the racepack on, as an extra precaution.

You know, you could always keep the gauge in the trailer/truck/wherever, and if you have an odd trouble you can't diagnose, slap it on for about 5 seconds & read the code.

I've had a number of the pipe sensors go out & that's the one that struck me as being hard to diagnose, sled still runs, but poorly, seems like it could be fuel or a number of issues. If you've got the gauge, then you can always just use it at the trailer.
