i just picked up the sled, 0 miles. i ride at 9-10k ft. that said i want to put a full exhaust on it but dont know what kind; slp,d&d speedwerx, bmp? any suggestions?? i will be putting egt's on and bd box.

next is the hood. all the shi! on the inside makes the hood feel like its 50 lbs. can i rip all the extra crap out?
bdx black box seems to have good reviews but after i put that in put vents all over the hood take the headlights out should i just be getting a mesh hood?
diamond s hood with plenum maybe?

i dont know what works best and i dont really feel like spending a bunch of money without some for your EXPERT:beer; opinions!

cant boost this year so dont recommend it haha

thanks in advance
david

I have some jaws twins,a sno pro air box, digitron egt gauge(minus probes)and a boondocker box i'll sell you all for $750. This ran harder than and single set up i've been around by far.

I have a full D&D single exhaust, BDX intake, Boondocker box, 2 degree timing key, some clutching and BDX M8 gears. Works great and was easy to tune, I did also get an A/F gauge to make set up that much easier. Hope this helps.

not really looking for twins. but thanks for the offer. does the bdx intake get rid of all the plastic mess in the nose of the bellypan and the extra junk in the hood? i havent ever seen one installed...
if i got a mesh hood would i still be purchasing the bdx intake or does the plenum option take the intakes place?

On my '08, I am still running the stock intake, but I did strip the hood of all of the sound insulation and associated clips and hardware. I doubt it was a huge weight savings, but it was free and it really cleans up the looks alot!

I have had a mesh hood on my old king cat and wasnt a huge fan of it, but that was just my opinion. On deep powder days I got alot of snow under my hood and my belt would slip often as well as my intake getting all iced up and I took pretty extensive measures to try and prevent this, but nothing worked.

I have a speedwerx can and really like it, have heard that the single pipe works well too, but have no personal experience with that.

really.. that makes me kinda skeptical on the mesh hood...any one else have opinions on mesh hoods in the pow?

Here are some of my suggestions...

First i would get the BDX intake. It gets rid of alot of the nose weight. It supposebly helps get more power but i don't know if i would make that statement. I did it to lose nose weight.

Sno-Eliminators are something that i would definately do. Even with the runningboard cutouts on the 08-09's they still get backed up with ice and snow. Fastlane makes some that fit very nice and keep the boards nice and clear.

I would also get a riser, 3" or more. I have a 4" riser on mine that is made by fastlane.

I have a sno-skinz mesh hood on my m1000 and it works pretty good as far as what it is made to do. I didn't have many problems with snow getting inside the engine on deep days because i did a little work to it to make sure that it fit nicer around the firewall. Another nice thing about doing a mesh hood is losing more weight and getting colder air to the intake if you end up doing a BDX box.

A skinz can is also another nice addition that helps drop quite a bit of weight. In my opinion the skinz can sounds the best but of course everyone has their own likes when it comes to that. The skinz isn't super loud but it sounds nice and throaty when you're on a long climb or sidehill.

When i started building my m1000 i wanted to make it as light as possible. I wasn't worried about putting a pipe on it or anything that would require a great deal of tunning or make it finicky. The m1000 has a good base power to start with. I just wanted to get it down in weight and ride it for the first year lightening it up. This year we will see what kind of changes i put into it to get some more power in it.

mesh hood

i have a diamond s mesh hood and i love it, i also have lots of vents in the belly pan area behind the shock wells and beside the clutch , i have never had any problems with powder in the hood, hood only weighs 6-7 lbs, well worth the $450
