09 M-6 Turbo, needs primer

New to this sled but 3 times on Saturday had to put gas down cylinder in order to start?? The plugs were dry and we could not pull enough to get the fuel pressure to start. It is only occasional but it seems as though a primer is needed. What is easier to add a primer and then where is the best place for the connections or is it better to wire a battery and pushbutton to the fuel pump?

Any experience on this is appreciated.

No Primer needed.

First off do not just shut it off let it idle down then you can turn it off. Next they have a choke so as to when you do this. There is a yellow wire that is behind the engine that hooks to the temp sensor if you open it the sled will think its cold and choke it. We install a switch in it so we just switch it on.

stock fuel pump?
what turbo kit and year?
does the fuel pressure sometimes go wacko and jump up and down?....if so, your fuel pump is bad:beer;
what fuel pressure are you seeing?

So true about the "let it idle before you kill it":beer;...this is the only way i could ride last year, took a few rides to figure it out:(

But the water temp switch thing is only needed if the engine (actually the turbo itself) is hot

Its a CPC kit which was full race and now I put a lower pressure actuator on for pump gas. It sees 40 psi on the fuel pressure and maybe 1/2 that when pull starting. And after pulling a few times it actualy seems to drop and I think this is why I couldn't start.

Thanks,

sounds like a slight leak in the pressure regulator or bad pump or power problems. if it sits at 40 psi when running it should pressure up to 40 psi within 2 to 3 pulls and stay there, something is bleeding by, you can test fuel pump by sticking wire in each end of pump plug and connect to 9 volt battery. if it runs pump backwards switch polarity. prime systems like this all the time works good.

Thanks,

Last year my M8 (non turbo) had a very hard warm restart. Turned out the injectors were bleeding down after it sat for a while flooding it out. Had to pull and pull like hell to start it. New injectors made for a whole new machine !

Food for thought...................................

I will zero in on this. I will double check but to this point, I think the pressure will not stay up but I am not sure if it is all the time.
