09 dragon fix

I just bought a 2009 dragon 600 miles never been rebiult newest flash. Read the owners manual which sucked for info. Took it out and 3 hours into the ride i seized it up. took it in to the dealer and they said it siezed due to the wire under the hood on the left side by the tiedown were plugged in. apparently these are for a alternate mapping configuration???? Out of warrenty they said it fried the pto side. so i price checked the dealer who was trying to rip me off but i bought the wiseco pro lites and a new cylinder. I am pretty frustrated with this thing. first ride and i fry it.... I would like to know what will keep me safe with this thing. Ive read on the power commander v but does anyone have a map for it or do i just guess? also have been looking at a sno stuff rumble pack is this a good can? I just want to ride and so far my new sled has been a head ache. open to any advice. thanks

slp and someone else makes a good map for these. and as for the wires being pluged in...i call BS and would raise hell unless you were running fuel with an E85 ethanol mix because that is what it was designed for BY the POLARIS engineers...so if they are tryin to pull that card and you were running ethanol free fuel i would tell them to stick it. Polaris has **** fuel mapping and a lot of problems with these motors...which i am dealing with myself. dont let them push you around!!!!

I agree with ragin, I have the same sled and have been one of the fortunate ones with no engine problems. I do have a pcv and egt guage. It seems now we are left holding the bag on a sled that has a bad name and Polaris just wants to "forget about" the IQ's and move on, as they tried to do with the 900. After the rebuild I would get a pcv, the maps available all richen up the lean mid range which burns these things down. good luck!

I have a 09 dragon with a little work done to it. i have done all of the flash updates. and i am on my fourth motor in this sled. the wire you talk about being plugged in will make i diff, but like they say only if you have fuel with e-85. I have started to put a little extra oil in my tank, and running a gallon of 112 race gas, it seem to be running better know. but i still don't know if that will fix the problem. i think they have a bad crank but the dealer will not even look at the crank when they do the update. so good luck

race fuel aint gunna do much for ya to keep it from burning down..the oil will help a little though. the race gas will just decrease the chances of DET by slowing down the burn and will not help prevent a burn down if it is lean..only more fuel will cure that problem. if anything it may kill power by slowing down the burn too much (too much oct.) i was running into this when i was trying to tune my pipes. i was running 80% av gas just to be safe and it was overkill and slowed the burn down too much. i put 91 in and it ran much better

The page that's not in your manual

If you have ethanol in your fuel it will run lean if the jumper is plugged in. Depending where you live, it can be pretty hard to find fuel without ethanol these days. I test my fuel for ethanol before running it, else run with the jumper disconnected.
