09 down for 5th time in 800 miles.

started off this season with a brand new motor from a burn down last May, put on a PCV with very conservative tunes and made it a whopping 200 miles. It still runs OK and has good compression, but I had to change out the EV gaskets due to some oil leaking out of them, and did a quick look down to see the skirts while I was at it, The mag side is scored up pretty bad. Who has Wiesco pistons in their 800's and how do you like them. My warranty ran out in November, but when I picked up the sled last May they said I had some "good will" warranty. HAHA! we will see. I see a for sale sign in this RMK's near future. I might as well of kept my 900.

I've been running the Wiseco's for about 300 miles. I think some other guys on here probably have more on them. IMO the pistons are just one part of the equation.

What is your riding style? Big climbs? Tight trees? Slower crawling? WOT powder riding?

Please take note about where the scoring is occurring. It is always around the exhaust port. Read into that a little more. There is too much heat around the exhaust port.

What map were you using on the PCV? I've been using the SLP map, but I'm running a different hood that provides much more intake.

I think the DTR Stoutner map seems to be the favorite otherwise.

Personally, from what I'm seeing I just can't honestly say that I think they are worth fixing. And a persons conscience can't live without telling a future owner of the possible issues. They should all be crushed.

If you can afford to cut your losses I would sell it. Nothing Polaris does at this point is going to fix it.

I just don't get it. Sleds that are made to only run for a few hundred miles.....Really? And there is no way that the initial field testing didn't show these issues? BS They went ahead and put it to production anyway. And 4 years later they have accomplished nothing towards making these sleds work right.

I had a Yamaha that had 7000 miles on it when I sold it. Still ran perfect. I have a friend that has like over 10,000miles on a viper. Granted they couldn't do what these sleds can, but I had just as much fun if not more. Not worrying about getting home goes a long way to having more fun on your ride.

Thanks Fullmonte. I have been using a modified Stoutner map, and riding is mainly boondocking, (never had a chance to hit any good climbs in that last 200mi). I have the exhaust valve solenoid plugged with pink springs in. The thing with this sled is that it always runs great (never had a bog or any other issues guys have reported). Might have to stab in my old 99 700 (8000+ miles and one topend just cause)!!! If there was a clear issue with these stupid cfi's and the fix was obvious, they are worth fixin, but unfortunetly, there is going to be a crap load more people in this spot. They should all be crushed I agree.

Lots of people are having great luck with our product. I am sure you have seen the 4M regarding the Gizmo. At this point we have a few hundred kits out and have had no complaints or burndowns. We have them back east at 900 ft and of course out west at 10,000 temps run 140 to 150 all day long, no cold shot and no burn down. If you like the sled other than the 200 mile engine problem you should give it a try.

This kit i also installed and i love it! works great and can totally tell an increase in hp...more crisp and no hesitation! I recomend it to everyone with a 08-10 dragon 800..

Why does this cold coolant problem(shock) seem to effect the 800 and not the 600 and 700? Just kinda wondering! and why do some 800 sleds seems to suffer from it worse than others?

i put in the wiescos and it really does run smoother havent noticed the lean spots since either. they have 200 miles on them in three days. Starts better gos into reverse better seems the only problem now is keepin it under control:face-icon-small-coo

Looks like Im gonna have to go the wiseco way as well. Was out riding today and all of a sudden it cuts off on one cylinder. Stopped it right away and took the plugs out. The mag side plug had little bits of aluminum on it. Got it towed out and put it in my truck and unloaded it in the garage. Im gonna tear it down tomorrow when it is thawed out. Hopefully the cylinders are still ok and all i will need is a piston and gasket kit.

i have been wondering this same thing...you never see burndowns of 700s and 600s...never...just doesnt make sense to me...

They all get a cold shot, the cooling system is basically the same. We have rebuilt several 600 and 700 at the shop. Granted not as many. What we were seeing when we started pulling the VES valves on the 6 and 700 was the same scuffing as the 800. When the 6 and 700s go they basically grenade. I do not think anyone was seeing the damage from the cold shot before they went. We are running the Kits on the 6,7 and 800 with great results.
Thanks

Outlaw, don't take this the wrong way but, your fix is only addressing one of the issues with these sleds. It doesn't address the vr and ecu issue, it doesn't address the fuel mapping issue, it doesn't address the piston clearance issue, and it doesn't address the crank issue. What you are selling is not the magic bullet to solve all of the issues that these motors have.

EDIT;

Now if you are confident that none of these other issues will happen while using your product and would guarantee (pay for new pistons/ motor) that none of these things would happen, I'd pay you double what you are asking.
