Good night to you all, I wish I was having a good night but it could be worse. Ok I was just moving my 09 D8 and after it warmed up I was just starting to move it and first the headlight went out and then it stalled and quit.

I pulled it over and it started for 2-3 seconds and stalled out again. First of all I guess I think the VR just went out but please chime in.

Thanking you in advance for any info or help you can give.

VR OUT

pull the plastic cover off and unplug the orange wires coming off the VR and see if it starts and stays running it might save your ECU

MOWER800,

Thanks, I followed your advise and unplugged the wire connector with the 3 orange wires that runs to the ECU, the sled started right up & runs ok. Everything seems to work fine now with this unplugged.

Could the sled safely be rode off of the mountain or most likely would other damage occur if you rode it before replacing the VR? I can oly assume the ECU would not get enough voltage or amps to properly control the fuel injection timing and one could expierence a melt down? This is where having electric start with a battery may help?

I will have the dealer warranty and replace the VR tomorrow. During these tests I just took a quick picture of the old failed VR and discovered that my 09 D8 had the orignal 08 VR part number 40117131. I must say I am disappointed with Polaris but right now at the same time I feel lucky that the ECU is not fried and that I am not stuck in the mountains some where?

good fix

I rode mine out with them unpluged and it ran great the whole way

Please clarify, is this the three small (20ga.) orange wires going directly into the ECM or the three large (10ga.) yellow wires? I know it says orange but I just want to be sure and have it in my mind in case I ever need to do it.
Thanks
