09 d8 GAUGE WENT BLANK

Had some intermittent issues with an 09 d8 last year with the guages going blank at times, mostly after a quick wot and completely letting off. I thought I had fixed the problem at the beginning of the year by kicking up the idle about 200 rpms. Last trip out guage was acting up, blank screen then resetting for the first ten miles of the ride, then has been blank ever since. Sled runs fine otherwise. Thought most likely a voltage reg problem, swapped with another unit, no change. Checked connections at the harnesses leading to the guages, and also under the clutch cover, no luck. Does anybody have a wiring diagram so that I can ck powers/grounds etc. before I take it in to the local dealer? Last time I took it in for the update flash It didn't get addressed. Also is there a way to flash or get codes off of these things without the digital wrench tool??

if you already swapped out the voltage regulator try unpluging you handwarmers they are know to short out cousing the screen to flash and go blank but my first guess would be voltage reg witch that is what happened to mine

Also, Rob, I have power coming off of one of the large yellow wires off the regulator connector for my digitron, it is working great.

I have my Digatron hooked in with the DC 3 wire harness. Digatron Orange to the red/yellow for the tach signal in the wiring harness right prior to the ECU plug in..then RED DIGATRON to 12V power end RED wire in the vacant accessory plug hanging at the end of your clutch/electrical control assembly cover...then Digatron black to the chassis ground right there as well. Works great and no power spikes.

There have been shorting problems associated to aftermarket hand warmers exposing wiring to the metal bars. We had one do that and figured it out by finally turning the hand warmers off and on and having the instrument panel work when that short was not activated. It caused a serious short and burned up the steering bushing clear down under the engine. EXPENSIVE to fix! During this deal the headlight was shutting down with the gauge so quite possibly you are experiencing something different. Most likely a plug or wire issue at the connection in the front of your hood where the connection is. If guys don't run the wire pack to the other side with aftermarket pipe(s) you can get a melting of those wires up front. Check that as well.

Unplugged hand warmers, found water intrusion on one terminal, but gauges still not working. Going to pull hood and swap with another tonight, to isolate from front underhood connector forward or backward. I'll bet you are right, where the harness bends or a guage problem itself. Any news on a boost sensor for the digitron yet? Thanks!

I have had the same problem with my 09 since the first ride. Voltage reg burned up a couple of weeks ago and took out the ECU. New everything but the problem persists. I had instruments for about 2 minutes yesterday and nothing after that. Some days it works all day some days not at all.

Checked it out further, ended up being the gauge asy itself, but i can't help but think that something else caused the problem.---> voltage regulator/ hand warmers/ etc/etc....?

me too, new gauge unit on order

update, new gauge on order at my expense, warrantee denied by Po even though the damn thing hasn't worked right since the first ride last year (with documentation of repeated dealer visits).

What did the gauge cost? Similar situation, mine started acting up at about 200 miles last year, dealer said it should be a warranty repair, bought sled less than a year ago... Hopefully they keep to their word. Keep me posted if they actually find out what is causing this or if it is just a bad instrument cluster.
