I know that this has probably been talked to death but i was checking my clutches today i have a slp tool when i put it on i had a good 3/16 " of a inch on the front of the secondary clutch and 1/4" on the back to me this is way the hell out slp said .100 on the front and .140 on the back my center to center is right at 11.5" also how much should the secondary float on the jack shaft after it align. I'm hoping this will fix my problem my old 700 kicked my *** in about 14" of fluffy sno Saturday THIS CANNOT HAPPEN or the boy will not let me live down. i was tacking at 8250 i thick is should 8400 maybe 8450 any help i have 112 miles on new update.

The slp tool is junk. Use the tool that is made by Team or just take it to the dealer. I bought the same tool and had the same problem. Took my sled to the dealer and my clutches were ok.

Tough to do on the Dragons, but if you can just eyeball where the belt lies in relation to the primary sheaves....it should just be kissing the inner (stationary) sheave with all belt to sheave clearance to the outer (movable) sheave. This is as accurate as any alignment tool and works for any brand with any combination of clutches for offset. Secondary should have as little "float" as possible, just enough to not preload the jackshaft bearing. :beer;

went to 1 dealer to check my clutch aligment and they said it was just fine so went to anther dealer and he said it was way the hell out so he fixed it. I got home and used my slp tool and it was just like slp instrustion said .100 on the front and .140 on the back. He also told me that is why i was taching @ 8250 rpm and only pulling 49 mph on track speed in 2 foot of base and 12 inches of powder does all of this sound right to you. or do i have more problems.

under the INCREASING YOUR IQ "sticky" at the top, check out my thread on TECH TIPS FOR 600/700/800 CFI's along with my thread on engine clutch alignment, ALL the info is there.

The SLP TOOL is fine.

The POLARIS GOLD PLATED TOOL HAS APPROX .070" of built in "kick" thus explaining the difference between readings from yours to the dealer.

I had to slot the engine brackets on my D7 and my bud's D7 approx 1/4" to 3/8" (Mag side) to get things "straightened out"
