09' crossfire 8 sno pro vs. M8

Can anyone tell me if there are any major differences between the two, other than the ski stance and track length/lug hieght. I am thinking about new M but I am disapointed the shortest I can get it in is 153. The crossfire is now uncoupled. Is it basicly the same suspension found in the M, with shorter rails?? I do mostly tree riding/boondocking and like to do some jumping. I realy don't want or need that much track. I am wondering if a crossfire would fit my needs a little better, but I want the deep snow caracteristics of the M. Thanks for any input.

I think if you like powder riding you should go for the M. I wish i would have instead of converting a cf to a M. Just put scratchers on if riding a trail or so.

Some of us that actually know how to ride don't need 12 feet of track. Anybody with something constructive out there? The A.C. website is pretty vauge. Sounds like same tunnle, same ergoes, wider stance, shorter track.

Is the suspension geometry different? Different atack angle/wieght trasfer?
Are there any diferences in stucture/bracing?

Easy there Snoluver dont get your panties in a bind

If you are just boondocking on flat in less than 2 ft of powder get the short track CF. If you are over 2 ft of powder go with the M. Also if you are climbing the long track is the only way to go. I picked the long track and am happy i did. I Ride trails at times and the longer track helps on the trail studder.

One thing tho if you are riding and you wish you had a longer track while riding it ant going to happen. But i can throw my M153 track around just as ez as a 141 CF

One other thing to consider is the braking. You may be able to get up some of the hills but the track length and especially the lug height can make a HUGE difference in being able to go slow enough down some of the them. I have done my share of white knuckle downhill on short tracks. If you are not in the hills much and ride more meadows, the crossfire might be a better fit. A couple of other differences I noticed are the torsion springs in the back instead of the fox float and a sway bar up front.

No point answering your questions, sounds like you made your mind up already.

I am still undecided too. either a 09 xfire8 141 or leftover 07 m8 141. I have a xfire now w 136' and ride w 141 144 153 and keep right up, but a 141 will get me into a deeper lug and 800. what ever i get will get mod's on it, and from what i have seen there are just as many mods for the 09 xfire as there are for the m8. the big difference i see is the weight between the 2 machines and ski stance. any ideas or suggestions??

I ride an 06 CF 7. My buddies all ride 06 M7..two 162's and a 153. I have no issues keeping up with them. Keep in mind that you can have all the track in the world, but if it is not clutched correctly it is a waste. Last season we were climbing and I could destroy my buddy with the 162 simply becuase his sled was clutched so poorly. Also, I only way about 150 # so I simply don't need much track to get me around. My only gribe is that the wide front end can get a bit tiresome by the end of the day.

To each his own. I love my sled, and all I ride is mtns. Powerwise altitude doesn't effect us as much up here though, as our mountains rise up from the sea:). M's are awesome, one of the easist sleds to throw around ever. But- if you desire something shorter like the ol' 141 of 05-07 then A/C has now made that available- except for the wide stance, and short lug track. The rear susp. geometry, tunnel mtg points are the same as 07 141, 3 pitch ect.. Ditto for the angle of attack and front chassis- all M stuff. You will have to shell out the bucks:face-icon-small-sad for the powerclaw 141 though. See if you can find a dealer that will work w/you on the track by exchanging stock 4 credit.

I'm building m first Xfire after having sleds that are too far ahead of my buddies machines. I ride at 10-13k & have huge climbs around here. after having a sled that always got me to the top of everything I pointed it at I decided to go with something with more fun factor.

the biggest difference that you can't just pull off in 2 seconds is the rear cooler, It's longer than on the M, sits all the way under the boss seat. the other thing you can't change without work is the gas tank, it's a touch bigger, fine with me since I have no oil tank.

With the powerclaw it will do just fine, fun to ride and even lighter than an M. my first day with my CF1000 I pulled 45 lbs off it (checked with postal scale, not mfg BS), and another 20+ to come before it hits the snow.

It's gonna be a fun year!

I own both the M and the crossfire. I stretched the crossfire to a 144 2" and took it to snowy range. What I noticed on my crossfire was it seemed to be under geared. If I would have removed the gears and replaced them with mountain gears the sled would have a better chance to perform better than it did. It just didnt have the low end torque the M has. If you buy the crossfire I would definately recomend buying a extra m act drive with lower gears that you can slap on if you are going to do some serious mountain riding. You can pick them up pretty cheap at hay days. Since I have returned the crossfire to a 136" track and love the sled for all other conditions I ride in when Im here in Fargo ND. Then I bought a 09 m8 153 sno pro for my trips to the mountains. One other problem I had was the crossfire was much harder on belts because of the higher gearing that was in it in the deep and steep.
I didnt have side vents on that sled wich would have definately helped it. We had three crossfires at snowey that trip and all had the same belt trouble. with the right clutching, heat eliminators, and gear ratio for the mountains I still think you could get a crossfire to perform well for you. Good luck on your descion!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you will be another valuable member with that attitude.

Not trying to be a prick, just adressing the sarcasim delt to me with the first reply.

Thanks to all who responded with something other than sarcasim. I think I'm gona go with the CF snopro. Take the sway bar off and maybe gear down a notch, add the powerclaw, and I basicly have a 141 M8. The ski stance I don't think will bother me much, coming off a renegade with 47" fixed. I can adjust down to 42" on the CF and that will be a hole lot better than I am used to anyway.

that should be a sweet sled for an aggressive rider! I totally forgot to mention the gears in my post, would def gear down from x/f ratio. 57/63 is stock m7/m8. Let us know how it goes!
