09 Bumper question

I had some minor carnage on my sled riding in McCall Idaho. Plastic doesnt do well with that. I am changing my plastic to 09 plastic and will have to move my Skinz bumper that came out fine(side impact) to my other 08 sled. Not to mention the complete steering llop(frame that everything mounts to) The tubular steel can not take the slightest impact or it will fold.

With the 09 front end I have a few different choices for bumpers.. The Skinz looks nice but I cant tell from their photos how it mounts up to the sled. Is it strong enough at the mounting points?

I could see the Cobe and Tri City as other options. I cant see how either of them mount up. The Cobe I like the most but I think for the added skid plate the price point of close to 400.00 is out of my hide the toy budget. So I think it would be between the skinz and the Tri City(I like the small piece of tubing in the front on the Tri Citys)

does anybody have these and understand how they mount up..thats the kicker on a good bumper.

Contact Harrysmith He Has Tricitys Front Bumper On A 09 D8 And Looks Pretty Good In Pics He Would Know About Good And Bads On It

thanks,

I guess my question more specifically is having an 08 with 09 front end, can I use an 08 skinz bumper ? Or will the 09 bumpers work on an 08 with 09 plastic.

What I really dont want is to get anything that mounts like the stock set up. That little polaris loop made from recycled beercans looks like the mounts would fold if it hit a box of Kleenix tissue paper.

Anybody know how to get ahold of treedog? I cant PM him as his box is full(thanks admin) would be nice if he could at least get a message that his box is full and there was an atempt of a new delivery from "username"

I have an 08D7 with the 09 front. I can well attest that the 09 setup works for me. While I haven't crumbled the supports, I have pulled a couple rivet where the bumper attaches to the sheet metal. Real PITA to replace those, should be screws IMO. The new plastic holds up far, far .... better than the previous. Tried getting between two trees that were just a tad close. Crumpled the aluminum knee console, but did no damage to the plastic- amazing!!! While I like the looks of some of the aftermarket bumpers, I'm not convinced that they offer the same reinforcement to the side plastic that the stock does. Check that before buying.
