09 Assault Track

Well my stock track finally started coming apart today with 1100 miles on it. Just trying to decide what to go with now for a replacement. I do about half of my riding out west in the deep stuff, and half of it at home in ND. I'm looking at both the 2.5" challenger extreme, and the 1.75" Ripsaw. I'd love to go with the 2.5 for out west, but i'm worried it won't hold up to the trails around home. I would also be interested in the polaris 2.4" if I thought it would outlast the 2.5. Any info would be great. Thanks.

1.75" Ripsaw

I had the same questions earlier and made the decision to go with the 1.75" Ripsaw. I ride the prairies and the mountains as you do and can appreciate that its hard to pinpoint one track that will do it all.

I made the decision to buy a Ripsaw as it didnt require a D+R, anti stab kit, extroverts etc to make it work properly like the current 2" or 2.5" CE require. That meant I could spend more on other mods that might have a bigger/better performance/reliability payoff.

The track got installed in my Assault at the beginning of this season and has really impressed me. It performs well in the powder (much better than the stock trencher) and on the prairies when we're boondocking, light trail riding etc.

It wont make this sled the highmarker on the hill, but, it seems to have the right charateristics with a softer compound rubber and thinner, wider lug which makes it a good performer for the type of riding you do.

Camoplast is making a drop in 2" next year, as in bolt it in and ride, it will have the required 6 lugs on the inside. I am currently running a 2.5 extreme on my assault without extros or d&r with no problems whatsoever, be nice to have a 2.25 for a little more clearance, but the overall improvement is huge. You do not need extroverts or a d&r to see a drastic improvement.

Thanks for the info guys. I might have to try hold out for the 2" that's coming. Might just try pick up another stock track to get through the year. Does anyone have any experience with the 2.4" polaris track?

I went with the 2" challanger on mine. that was last year and it required combo drivers and an anti-stab kit. i am pretty pleased with this combo for how i use this sled. if i spent more time out west i would have a camo extream on there, but this is a good comprimize.
