09 600 RMK air box install........HELP

Wife's rmk not running right this weekend so I decide to seal up air box, I remove and notice its not on throttle bodies properly. Rubbers are slightly distorted but seem fine.......so I silicone up and lightly grease the rubber and try and re-install. Needless to say I know why the air box was wedged in place and not properly installed. I have now removed secondary, can and fuel tank and still :censored: can not get the air box on the throttle bodies........clamps are super loose and there does not seem to be any obstructions it just will not go into place properly.

- is there a proper orientation for the peg that holds the rubber in place? I left it in the "upper" hole, but there is another hole on the bottom side of the airbox.
I can't see how it could matter but I'm out of patience and want to get this thing back together.
- or should I buy a new style airbox that's one-piece?
- or just order new rubbers and try again?

Any tips, tricks or suggestions..........I searched and read most threads and didn't see anyone having troubles installing. I've installed engines, and turbos.......you would think I could install a :censored: air box.

If it's an 09 it's the "one piece". The 08- came two piece. It's really frustrating the first time but now i can remove or install in la few mins. The trick is to slightly lube the boots as you did and make sure you're not getting it hung up on the jack shaft. The fuel filter hose can sometimes hang up on the side of the box. After you have everything clear, it should pop right on. Get a really long philips head screwdriver and orientate the hose clamps so you can access them without taking apart your sled

Air box seems distorted on one side won't sit flush. Made it work tonight but not happy with fit..............

Thanks for the input! Much appreciated!

airbox

Have the same problem with my daughters/wifes old one/my backup 07 600. We rejet alot and everytime I do I swear I'm going to get rid of it, put K&Ns on it, or kick the engineer who designed this airbox in the you know what.I'd rather do the latter two until I get a new one and she gets my 09 700.I believe all you have to do with K&Ns is rejet and run your atmospheric tubes where they draw in fresh cool air ?

the first time i took mine off was a treat.... not only was it a minor pain to get off, getting the thing back on was a beast. keep trying, it looks as though you've got the idea.... lube is best:face-icon-small-hap

I also try to pull the throttle bodies up and towards the motor while slipping the box on. The only hang up then is usually the jack shaft, so now push the box forward.

Pull those holding tabs and rotate boots so you can reinstall them in lower holes. This way you can easily access those hoseclamps from top with an 18" phillips screwdriver.
