I was trying to start my 08 xp 800 in cold weather the pull rope is stuck out won't recoil! Is there any trick to getting it to coil back up without pulling it apart?

Had that happen on my 600 sdi last year... pulled it over from the primary and once it started it sucked the rope right back in and i never had to mess with it again... works everytime now... hope its that easy for you

Try tapping the recoil unit lightly if the aforementioned advice doesn't work. I had this happen to me in the backcountry last season with my 05. A few slight taps with some tension on the rope and she pulled back in. I really try not to pull the rope all of the way out when starting now.
i have had this happen before also try turning the engine backwards by the primary clutch and see if the recoil goes back in, i have had the spring break also did it make any funny noises when you pulled it out?
