08 RMK 600HO JETTING & CLUTCHING SNOWIES WY

I'm headed out next week. I am wondering what seems to work best for a stock 600HO. We will be riding out of the trailer parked near Snowy Mountain Lodge in wyoming which is said to be around 10,000 feet.

I'm thinking of starting out with 260 for mains and clip in position #2. I run 410's with great success at 600 feet.

For clutching I'm thinking of starting with a 10-54 or 10-52 (10-AL). I don't remember what I ran last time but it seemed to work. Anyone have experience with a stock 600 in this area?

And if anyone knows a good clutch weight set-up for the 08 700CFI let me know that as well. I guessing 10-56.

10-54's should be good unless you get up to 12K plus.

I think 260's for your mains should be good.

I run 290/300 mains in my 07 600, but it's got SLP intake/pipe/can.

My wife's 06 600 is stock other than an SLP can, and I believe we're running 280's in hers.

Both sleds run very well at 10k.

I just got back..

i used 10-54 weights but i took them down to 53.65 Balanced

Worked Great!!

Have a great Trip!

thanks matt

I ran 58 gram weights in my '08 700 RMK when it was stock in that area. It would run around 8000 RPM.

My dad ran 10-AL's in his '07 600 RMK and that seamed to work well.

Wife's 07, 10-54's, 260 mains, clip #1, IIRC the plastic washer is on top of the clip. Runs like a top.

if you haven't already, you should drop you pilot jets down to 45's or even 40's, otherwise it will be really fat off the bottom. Other than that I just rode last weekend and with 10-54s and 260 mains it should work really good. You might consider changing exhuast valve springs to yellows also

pilot jets

mountainclimber, just got back from snowies, my 07 600 carb slp pipe, can, and airbox, blubbers very bad at 5 mph and loads up when idling should I drop pilot to 40s ? How about fuel screws? Book says 1 turn out. Hard to boondock, this way

Yes, dropping to 40's will really help. Mine was terrible and the diff. pilots really cleaned it up. I have messed with the fuel screws and haven't had much luck but you could try it. Polaris messed up when they took the air screws off the carbs. I know some people on here have said they changed the pilot-air jet and it has helped, maybe they will chime in and help. The dealer I talked to said that I will never get it cleaned up on the bottom, he said they tried changing the cutaway on the slides and it really helped, I need to get more info from him on that.

But changing just the pilots for now should really help, it was night and day diff. on mine. It still burbs slightly off the bottom once in awhile but not like it did. Good luck, keep us posted
