Why doesn't Yamaha stand behind their warranty when they know they have a problem? Especially in the rear suspension on the Nitros.

Dealers have told me about this issue and it will cost me about $600 to fix the problem.

The problem is the defective shocks and springs for the rear suspension. Yamaha says when they break in they are supposed to collapse but, I have talked to other people and dealers where the suspension is not working because it collapsed.

They will warranty mine but will not upgrade it to the new style, so how long will it last with the old style if it wouldn't last the original 1000 kms????

IT SHOULD BE A WARRANTY RECALL!

Same Problem, No Response

Had same problem with rear suspension, broken rear shock, snapped limit straps and bent relay rods at 421 miles last April in a remote area 31 miles from civilization. Sent letter and pictures to Yamaha twice requesting warranty replacement with the upgrades 2009 parts and still am waiting for a response which I am sure will not be coming. Dealer said it would be covered, but that the pathetic 2008 parts would be put back on it. Out of concern for my safety and not willing to lose $4k on resale 5 months later with a sled with 421 miles on it, I decided to "fix" my pathetic MTX suspension myself since I am an Ohlins dealer with Ohlins, Apex 2100nm rear spring, upgraded limit straps, ice age rails, modified relay rods and a power claw 153. I figure I can put it back to stock at the end of this year and sell the upgraded parts and not lose too much value. If I had ridden a 2008 MTX marshmallow prior to buying one, I would have a 2008 Dragon instead. I have run the hell out of my 2006 RMK 900 and not once has this "problem plagued sled according to some" ever broke. Since Polaris seems to understand mountain riders and their needs and unless Yamaha does something to upgrade the MTX to a level equal with the Dragon or Assault, I will be going back to Polaris next year. It is amazing to me how in 2008, some OEM's like Yamaha still don't get that mountain riders experience some of the roughest conditions out there, ride in remote areas (ie way out of cell range) where a broken sled could be fatal, and ignore "first year model" customers requests for needed upgrades on a $11,000 sled. I wonder if defending a class action would make them care. Attn Yamaha...... "bad customer service equals bad future sales".
