08 M8 What is it worth?

Hi
Enjoyed reading the forum for a few years now. So much it has made me want an M8. I may have found an 08 M8 that the owner is thinking of selling. I want to make an offer and need some input if possible. It is in excellent shape with 1000 miles. Its A 162" track with no engine mods. Has a Boss seat and 2" bar risers. That's about it. If you could chime in on what updates if any I should ask if he had taken care of or what to ask him on maintenance he has done with that mileage I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I just bought an 08 M8 with a 153" track yesterday with about 1000 miles for $5900. But this is all stock, and in excellent shape, I have yet to find a scratch. Taking it out for it's first ride tomorrow! :D

After having to ride a buddies loaner sled for a couple of years after an expensive divorce, I have spent the last couple of months combing ads here there and everywhere. I think I have a pretty good feel for fair selling prices right now. I think that $6000 area is the true market value for a sled like that. I found several nice, comparable '07s in the $5000-5500 range and other than some rear suspension changes there is not much difference for '08. The '09 gets less wieght and more goodies and will cost more.

Firgure that you can buy a 2010 seat for $250, and the riser is $30. Don't pay too much extra for extras, those are cheap easy ad ons. There are no major service issues. I would want to know that the DDrive had been flushed each season though. I would also budget $650 to replace it at some point. The '07-08 versions have design issues.

Excellent choice though, with an SLP pipe/can, you will have a rippin sled.

I am just having some coffee, getting ready to go bolt the 2010 seat and bar riser onto my new purchase! Good Luck finding a sled!

Compared to a '07, the better open-style running boards and rear skid of a '08 are worth the price difference to me.

My two '08 DDs have been fine for tree crawling - No big hp mods, no turbo, no 60-90 mph trail running and no oil leaks are some simple key things to DD survival.

Speaking with a dealer this week, a '08 M8 Sno Pro with low miles is worth $6-6.5k.

Alot of guys don't take condition into consideration when pricing these sleds out. They just spout off about how they saw one in the swap meet for $4k and think that all the same model sleds should cost that much.

I just sold my wifes 07 153 standard a few weeks ago. It was immaculent and looked better than the day it came off the showroom floor. The first person that looked at it bought it for my asking price. ($6300)

I tell people to go look at the other sleds. Most are sacked out, scratched, weathered, and filthy. You will know a gem immediatly and won't have any problem paying an extra $1k for it. If the 08 is clean then I'd say it should have no problem bringing mid $6k.

You got lucky, that is all the money and then some these days. I recently looked at three '07 M8s. One had 600 miles, pipe, can, boss seat, immaculate, $5500. One had 780 miles, 162 track, very nice, $5400. The third had 1000 miles, looked new, $4900.
