08 m1000

In my riding group of mixed sled brands and sizes, my buddy has an 08 m1000. His sled is stock except for an SLP can, the rpms climbing are about 7500, and it seems to hold that quite well. When I ride this sled you can tell that it builds good power but I don't think that it is living up to it's potential. What can we do with the clutching to get it to improve the climbing ability? At this point we would like to stay away from pipes, controllers, nos etc. We are already looking into a PC 162, what else can we do?:beer;:)

I'd look into getting one of either Kelsey's RKT or Dale's CPC torsional conversion kits for the secondary. I've run both on my M8 and they seem to help a lot.

I did the cpc secondary conversion and love it. I run the stock weights on the primary and the 162 attack 20, (plan to go to the pc this year). I run about 8300rpm. The cpc secondary is easy to adjust and like it all around.

The RKT or the CPC conversion look like a good place to go after the PC. We are considering some kind of adjustable flyweight i.e. Dalton, but over 8000 rpm on the big twin ? What do you guys think, since I have never seen a dyno sheet on the 1000. I remember my old KK 900 with a pipe liked around 7800 when stock was around 7400, is the m1000 similar ?

The 1000 stock makes its power at 7200-7300 rpm

i got the exact same sled with also a slp can. I got RKT secondary on it and run a 046 belt. i think the helix is a 40/36 with a cutler red/white spring. At 6000ft spinning 85g weights holding anywhere between 7200 and 7400 in the deep and steep. This just works. Belt temp high for my liking though but have never blown a belt.
