08 m1000 reverse issue...

I was out this weekend, 08 m1000, was running great then half way through Saturday when starting it would ingage reverse on its own. Would start up fine, then the reverse would engage and you had to push the button to get it in forward gear. After about 4 or 5 times while riding and shutting it off and starting again it would engage reverse while in forward, even if slowing creeping forward. It was not showing any codes at this time. I disconnected reverse actuator to make it back to town and it would stay in forward. I was receiving an error code (CCU) control Chassis Unit and the headlight was flickering like it was still trying to engage reverse but since the actuator was disconnected it would not engage. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet and looking for people that may have had this happen to them. I was leaning towards the push button reverse or the revese actuator. Some one mentioned to me that it sounded like the (CCU). It was not flashing CCU until I unplugged the reverse actuator. planning on checking out later this week and hoping someone else has had this issue.

I'm having the same issue with my M10, two weeks ago I dropped it of at the dealer and it worked fine for them. Took it out last weekend and it did it on Sat. and got a wrench code and low fuel popped up when the tank was full, then on Su. it worked ok. It's got me baffled wtf?

yeah, got me too.

thanks, going to get in the shop and dry it out. check all conections for water/ice and see if it still does it. good thing for me is i ride with a bunch of m10's so i can swap out parts, try to narrow it down.

haven't looked yet

I haven't had a chance to get it out of the trailer yet, we are not riding this weekend so hopefully this weekend i can get a chance to narrow it down. I will let you know what i find. I was also thinking switch to start with since that will be the easiest to eliminate right off the bat.

the reverse switch and see if that cures your problem, im assuming your out of warranty or dont want to deal with the dealer. easy to do

Had my sled at shop last week still under waranty and they couldn't find anything wrong and are trying to charge me an hour worth of labor:eek: Guess I will get a new switch and do it myself!

When it acts up again, just unplug the switch. If that's cures it then you will be able to tell Kurt what to fix. No need to let the dealer off that easy.

Water in electrical plugs

Well not sure if it was what caused it or not, I guess time will tell. Pulled all the plugs apart and cleaned and dried them out and seems to be working great so far. I have a set of frog skinns to put on to try to keep some of the snow out. when my issues came around there was a lot of built up snow on the ccu. Pretty cheap fix so far.

my 09 hcr is going into rev whenever rpms go low

disconnected switch, no difference

taking it to the dealer this am

it started flashing the temp light on the way home

Same exact thing happened to a buddies a few weeks ago on his '08-M1000 while out riding. We just unplugged it for the day. When we got back to town we blew the connections dry with air and used dielectric grease in the connections. Hasn't happened since. It was moisture in the plugs. Sure was funny though...........almost threw him over the hood a couple times taking off.

my 09 m1000 did the same thing i unplugged the reverse and it was fine for a couple hrs it did it again so i plugged it back in then it worked,it was very randon and switching itself in and out of reverse i took it in and the throttle cable wasnt sitting in the thumb part right he said he shaved it down a bit and adjusted it on the throttle body. doesnt make sence to me why it just did it after a yr of riding but it hasnt done it since. hopefully that helps. it also looked to me like there was water in the plug just under the cowling by the steering post maybe unplug it and let it dry out?
