'08 m1000 or '09 m1000?

hello. i had a quick question about which one would be the better overall sled? but it also seems like a person could jump onto a '08 m1000 for about $1500-$2000 cheaper than a '09 m1000. both are snopro 153's. thats why i ask. i know you get the adjustable bars, different track and eng reverse would be the big ones. i searched a few posts and most seem to lean toward the '09 but i thought i would get more recent thoughts. thanks.

I have an '08 M1k, and I love it. But, I think I would go with the '09. You get the updated tunnel, powerclaw track, adj bars, engine reverse, and I have heard that the '09 have pretty good engine tunning, as where some of the '07 and '08s were known to have some issues I guess (mine personnaly runs great!). So I think the extra $1,500 would be worth it. just my two cents.

If money is the issue then go with the 09 M8. It will be less than the 09 m1k and put a stomping on the 08 m1k when in the steep and deep. 1 word: Powerclaw.

I ride an 08, and haven't been "stomped" by anything without a whistler on it. The 09 has the cool rear bumper, lighter rails and reverse... The adjustable bars seem to get loose and sloppy after a hard season. I wanted an 09 until I found an 08 for 2400 less. $2,400 bucks adds a lot of mods. The reflash livens them up quite a bit. Mine whipped up on my buddy's identical sled without the reflash. I went with the older cheaper model, and put a power claw, can, boss seat, riser, and lots of other stuff on and still was under nine grand. Stock to stock the 09 is better, but if you are like me, you are all about bang for the buck.

I've got an '07 and an '09 M1000 162's I know the '09 is much, much easier to handle than the '07.....the '09 seems to handle like my '05 M7...it feels that light....I haven't ridden an '08 but I'm not sure much changed from '07 to '08....just my 2 Cents............

track, tunnel update, and reprogram the ccu for elctronic reverse and you've got the same sled. you would have to upgrade the diamond drive to be the exact same weight. but these mods could be done over time. have never been overly impressed with the adjustable handle bars, they seem to get sloppier over time...

The 08's and 09's have the same skid, which changes the handling and ride of them a lot.

I was faced with this question last year and bought a leftover 08. The only thing I want to do to mine is put a powerclaw on it, but 1500-2000 is a big difference. As for going with an M8, no stock 07-09 M8 will stomp on an M1000.

I agree 100%. I had an '07 M1000 , now on an '09. Not even a comparison IMO. By far the best sled I have owned in my 15+ yrs of owning sleds.

I'd put up titles that a bone stock 09 m8 162 will outclimb a bone stock 07-08 M1k 162 in the steep and deep.

I'm talking bone stock sleds. Again 1 word POWERCLAW.

Yeah, the track make a differance

My '09 M-8 gave my buddy's '08 1000 fits. He finally pulled me at the top of a steep deep snow climb. He says the only reason he pulled me was he had put on a Powder Claw. The top of the climb had much softer snow. He had 162'' and I had the 153''.

i wish i had the title to someone elses sled, i would think even with the older style tunnel and challenger the M1000 would come out on top. dmkhnr you guys should be able to put these 2 on the snow side by side then i wouldn't have to risk someones sled:)
