I am old and like to let Er rip once in a while. What would be nice without going overboard. Can you get 2 12's in? What would you run for amps? Subs, and door speakers? Don't want to yank factory radio.

Nice but not crazy. GO!!!

Go to Crutchfield and enter your vehicle info, you should end up with a lot of ideas. I added a plug and play kicker 10" and amp combo to my 16 1500 Denali. It fills in the lows really well with the factory Bose stuff.

Two 12s is alot of bass for an old guy! I have no idea what that truck takes for speakers, but I put Polk DB651s in my doors on my Duramax. Good sound for the money, I believe they were $60 a pair and they are marine grade. I have an 8" JL sub with their amp and the sound is awesome for that small of a sub. Wont shake your doors off, but just a really "full" sound that you can feel when you turn it up.

Like said above I would go through crutchfield, their site is super easy to use and tells you what will and wont fit, plus they have great customer service. Lots of good review as well. Powered woofers are nice for trucks, they save alot of space.

Every single person is gonna recommend something different so I would find something with really good reviews in the sizes you want and pull the trigger. I dont think you can go wrong that way.

Justin I put in a 400w amp and a 10" bazooka tube in my boat.

It's perfect...when I remember my ipod. HAHA

2 12's is definately a LOT of bass potential. 2 low pro 10's under the back seat will do a lot. Heck, even a single 10 in a well built enclosure will fill things in REALLY nicely for most music. Taking the bass demand off the door speakers also nicely allows them to not distort so bad at higher volume levels

What cab combo is the truck?

Check if JL makes a stealth box for your truck ....not usually the cheapest, but good quality, fits the truck, and gives a slick pre-canned solution for box and sub.

My 02' has two 10's right now. Maybe 12's are overkill. I remember one of the sound guys say I don't need it for my music style.

Right now I have MTX all the way around.

I tried Crutchfield. It just showed one box... Maybe I was doing it wrong.

If its the full 4 door setup you can usually fairly easy fit 2 10's behind the rear seat. and that adds in some NICE depth to music. Fills in rock and makes it feel like its live. all 12's really allow you is to enjoy even deeper bass which I doubt you need.

More of the question is what to spend. Subs go from 50$-$500. What's nice without going overboard. Same with door speakers. The price difference is huge. Each company has a pile of models.

I would say shoot for between the 1/3- 1/2 of the price range depending on the amount of variance. Each brand has their cheap low end models that are basically on par with OEM stuff, if not slightly less reliable, some good bang for the buck mid grade stuff and then usually some crazy high end stuff that is above what 99% of people could never tell a difference compared to the midrange products.

Shoot for middle of the road for quality without paying over the top on things and I bet you will be really happy with adding a little sound to things on your side of stuff.
