Ok, strange condition. Got an 08 800 Dragon. Started acting up, either on the snow or on the track stand it maxes out at about 6200rpm then dies. Doesn't die completely, but feels like it starves for fuel, dies back to an idle then just idles and you can then increase RPM back to 6200. Happens if you ease in to it or wack it wide open. Will jump right up to 6200 and then die off.

Not valves or valve solenoid, checked all that. Doesn't seem to be fuel pump, it maintains good pressure. Fuel filter replaced, no change. Runs flawless and smooth right up to that 6200.

Checked VR and it is fine.

Next is to check the computer, wondering if it is dying.

Other ideas? It sets no codes.

My guess is an airleak. Intake boots are known to crack and cause a lean condition.

I know what your problem is... Been there... Your Exhaust valves are clogged... when cleaning them don't forget to clean the small little holes une the orange bellows ! Then flip it where the valve is and clean the ports ! If the gasket is stuck there remove it or them and and put fresh ones ! You should see light popping in there if they are cleaned. I cleaned mine with WD-40 and a small needle !

Give us back feedback to see if this worked for you !

Ok, got to the bottom of it tonight... computer. Pulled the computer off another 800 Dragon and put it on the problem child, no more issue. Something happened with the computer.
