08 800 Dragon Secondary Helix

Just purchased an 08 800 163 and noticed the secondary has a 64/42-.36 helix installed in it while the set up sheet calls for a 56/42-.30 helix.

Anyone have any experience with this set up or should I go back to the stock helix.

Very common helix choice for that sled. Quite a bit of info on that in the "increasing your IQ" sticky at the top of the page.
If you like to be in the gas hard all the time, big climbs and open areas you will likely prefer that helix. If you play and crawl in tight trees all day you may prefer something closer to the stock setup.
 
The 700 works better with the 60-40-46 or 58-38-46
The 800 I have found works better with a 64-40-46 with the 163 track
Thanks, I've been thinking about trying other setups. Most of the time it is boondocking with a bit of climbing. Right now it is all stock.
 
The 64-40-.40/62-42-.40 is the absolute best helix for the 800 CFI for ALL type's of mountain riding, tight slow tree riding, boondocking, on/off the flipper, etc.

And is a proprietary cut helix available at Carls Cycle.

That helix you have is kinda close to the preferred but the stock 58 is no good.
 
Team Tied on Pro RMK

I have a 2012 Polaris 800 Pro RMK 163. I purchased a Team Tied Driven Clutch. What is recommended for a spring and helix for that machine. I ride between the altitudes of 3000 - 6000 feet. I hillclimb and cross country tree ride, very little trails and logging roads. Sled is geared 19-42 with everything else stock except for intake. Any suggestions or ideas?

what type of gearing and weights did the PO have in there?
 
Well... I agree that helix is a good helix, IF you have primary clutch setup accordingly.

I've seen people try and match that helix with say the primary clutch setup from Tri-City and that doesn't work so well.
