08 700 cfi less power than 07 700 cfi?

Bottom end went out on my 07 so I bought an 08 700 RMK motor w/ 350 miles. It runs good but has noticably less power than the old motor.

Same clutching, 10-66 weights and blk/wht primary spring, stock secondary. SLP sinple pipe/ silencer.

This set-up w/ the old motor pulled hard up to 8100 and now it won't hit 8000

Should I go back to the 10-64's?

Hmmm.

It's because your 07 was a Dragon motor. Just kidding.

They were the same motor so it has to be some other variable. Perhaps something went wrong in those 350 miles. Why was that motor even available?

I have a 2007 D7, factory 64 gram weights, tried the 10-66's and SLP MTX 68's with different spring combos, could not get it to R.P.M., went back to the 64's

Did you check the compression on that single ring piston 2008 700???

the last flash 08 700 is very rich on top end and down on HP. If you can borrow a PCV from a pal, I can email (can't PM) the PC owner/ DTR member the D7 map that will add @ 8-10HP on top (you will need heavier weights to load the engine properly). Plus we have covered up a lean block in the midrange with 8-10% added fuel there. If you like the way it runs, then you can find a pcIII for sale cheap I can provide the D7 map for it too, or just load the map on a pcv and send it to you.

compression is good.

It does have the single ring pistons which i'n not crazy about but i'll run them for a while and replace.

the motor came out of a crashed/parted out RMK.

I have the same problem my bro has a 07 and I have an 08 its like two totally different sleds. If you are running the same ecu from the old motor then the map should be the same, you and I might have the same issue. I am trying to figure it out also I have replaced the single ring with dual ring thought that it was good for a while then back to not being able to pull rpms. I have swiched everything with my bro but ecus so I am going to try that next!

Pc-3, pc-5

Tried going back to the 64's and it's no better.

I didn't change cdi's so the map is the same as my 07.

I also have the PC-3 and DYNOTECH Jim's map, and it works very well on my 2007 D7

As Jim suggested, see if you can get your hands on a PC-3 or purchase a PC-5.

Best bang for the buck mod on this sled, period!

Are you using the same clutch off the 08 or your 07? If you are using the other primary sping, it could be sacked out? But most likely looks like it is the fuel mapping on the 08, I would try your old 07 ECU.

maybe my tps is off, this motor does idle at approx 1900-1950?

t.p.s. could still be off, idle speed is close

got you on the ecu, I thought you might have used the 2008 e.c.u.

The other possible explanation is that there are 3 different color injectors, therefore 3 different flashes, perhaps the possible mismatch is causing a rich condition??
