hey guys, incase some of you forget, the factory warranty for most owners will end within the next what 6-8 weeks, before you put those sleds away for the summer, pull your y-pipes, plugs and powervalves and inspect those pistons and cylinders closely for any signs of scuffing or blowby...if they show any signs, take them to the dealer right away... there is also a new flash that was released a few weeks ago, this flash is for sleds normally ridden under 3000 ft of elevation..it richens the midrange, smooths the idle, and leans the top end slightly......it is noticably crisper overall with no bog/hesitation in the midrange...

Great point... He who hesitates is lost...

As AK said...

This is the last chance to have an update done for free if you have not already.

Also, the last chance to have them fix a problem... If you know about it now.

From what I understand... there will be no further extensions of the warranty from the Polaris factory.

Are those with the 3 year still safe? Or does the update warranty supersede the three-year warranty when purchased? You know, one of those I shoulda read the fine print.

3 year should be fine... I just had my entire motor replaced and it won't get on the snow till next year, have 1 season left of warranty:face-icon-small-win

It would be nice if they would actually do something about scuffed pistons, but unless the compression is out of spec, there is "nothing wrong". 10%+ deviation between cylinders is the guideline. I've already been down that road, as have others. If you know otherwise, please provide specifics about who and where something is being done about it and what the circumstances behind it were. As far as a flash, there is no F'n way I'll take another one of their re-flashes unless there is warranty to go with it.

the guideline I use is simple, if you can catch a fingernail on any scratches on a piston skirt..the piston is scuffed and needs replaced..have never had a problem getting polaris to cover them....

That is a very different answer from what we get down here. I know my dealer well and he is aware of the issues I've had with my sled. He wouldn't tell me there wasn't anything he could do if he didn't believe that was the case. However, I may have to chat with him again. I'm not at all happy about what my pistons look like after one season - I've had better looking pistons in motors with 3x the miles on them.

thanks for the reminder AKsnowrider. Time goes by fast so need to inspect.

Went to my dealer and found out that they just dreopped the Polaris snowmobile line and cant do warranty work anymore. There goes the VIP status down the drain.

Who was that?

My 09 Assault didn't make er to the end before she tossed her lunch so I bummed an 09 Assault trade-in from my dealer and that SOB gave it up yesterday! Hope like hell the 2 2011's I ordered work. Geezuz this sh!t is getting old. I was defending these 800's for a while but I threw in the towel on them. All I can say is good luck to the peeps who wind up buying the trade-in units with no warranty or the peeps that keep em.

Good reminder! I cooked the ECM and VR 3 weeks or so ago, dealer replaced with new VR and an ECM off a 2010 floor model (to get me back on the snow before it melted), flashed to the latest flash. Sounds like it was the same flash you mention, mainly for lower elevation driveability issues, but they issue the same flash for all sleds as their current flash.

Ran fine stock. Put SLP single on it before last weekends ride (5/7), ran fine, no bogs. 5/12 ride, major midrange bog... no changes in setup, but 20 to 30 degrees warmer. Disappointing to say the least. WFO was fine though. I am going to pull the exhaust valves and check pistons though.
