07 xrs shaved stock head..bad or good?

I have a buddy that is a machinist and He shaves the heads on all his sleds and said I should do it to my 800R motor. has anyone ran into issues doing this, and any idea how much to shave? He also ports and polishes the jugs.

The question to your machinist friend is what exactly he does to increase compression(that's what he's doing) and the '07 800R's were in dire need of more compression.
If he just whacks off .020" off of the bottom - then no. Don't do it. If he cuts the domes and face then go for it. As long as he knows what he's doing...?!?!....
My demo XRS had 130ft/lb and was pathetic until I boosted compression to over 150. Then it really woke up ands tarted making some torque. Much better and almost needed for anything low in compression from the OEM's.

head

I've got one already done. I had my XRS motor done to make it run proper at 5000. Big John ar SHR racing did my work along with a clutch kit. It ran great. Now it's collecting dust. I have the full Bikeman BB 880 kit along with some extras. Make me an offer on the stock head. Send me a message at
