07 XRS burning too much oil

My buddy just brought me his 07 xrs with the 800 R motor, he says he went through a whole tank of oil and only half a tank of gas, I have a hard time believing it... the arm on the pump is moving fine. Has anyone run into this before? It just started doing this suddenly according to him.

Hey sounds like the rings might be gone, check compression, and if the top end is gone on the 07 I would look at doing the bottom as well, they have problems right out of the box. Just my 2 $

My pump was gone on my 05. All of a sudden used a tank of oil. Ran out in the hills. Did some fiddling and helped a little but.. When the pump goes it dumps oil freely instead of cutting it off I was using 12:1. The arm felt free and the sleave was in the boot at the adjustment. I pulled my motor to build the top end and took the pump off. The arm would come to the 9;00 positionbut it wasn't until I got my new pump that I found out the arm actually goes to the 5:00 position. I put a new pump from an 800r on and what a difference. I was using Amsoil which is a little thinner also.
Also make sure that the check valves arnt stuck open or there isn't a leak somewhere. Put a mark on the tank when it is sitting and see if the level changes. Pm me if you need more help

the rings have nothing to do with the oil delivery.

ya, skidoo designed it's oil pump to go to full oil when it fails. Instead of not pmping oil. So if the oil tank isnt cracked , i would put a new oil pump on it! You can check the oil tank for cracking , the ones that i replaced always cracked where the coolant bottle slid into the oil tank mount .

delete the damn thing, premixing is much better.
