07 vs 09 cases & crank

I lost the mag side rod bearing & cracked the case on my 09 800R. I have an 07 lower end which was a replacement shortblock in 09 for the 07. (not the original 07 stock engine) Other than the lower plate, are the cases the same? The PTO stub is broken on the 07 crank. If the cases are the same I could just order an 09 crank. Also, what's different between the cranks? I've been told that the mag end taper is different but I don't know that to be a fact. Could the ends of the 09 crank be put on the 07 crank? The 07 crank & case is like new, less than 500 miles.

If the 07 cases have the proper holes drilled and tapped for the XP engine mounts then you are good to go.

frog what does it take to run a 2013 crank in a 07/08 case.has a longer mag end if I recall? will a spacer work?

the 2013 crank has a longer mag end, you will have to use the flywheel from a 09 and up and you will not use the balancer plate from the 07-08, I think you can use any stator on those cases,

If the cases are drilled & tapped for the mounts, are all 800r cases identical? Bearing clearances, dimensions, everything? Does this include Etecs? Same question on the cranks, is the mag end the only difference? Everything else identical? Same crank in the Etec?

I don't think the 07 had the mounting holes for the 09 style motor mounts, the ptec and etec are the same engines, cranks are the same other than the short and long mag ends and the etec uses sealed center bearings so they can dial down the oil pump.

All the R engines are using the same crank except for the mag end on the 07-08 engines. The etec case is the same as the ptec case but there is no piuse line nipple on the e-tec case, would have to drill and press one in to run on a ptec. Can run a ptec on a etec but would have to cap off pulse line nipple. All 07 and early 08 original cases should be lined bored to current spec to prevent premature bearing failure from over squeezing. Only certain know the proper spec so decide accordingly. I have installed a 09 crank in an 08 and just used the 09 flywheel and all worked fine. The XP cases will work in a rev but not vice versa. Rev cases do not have the proper holes drilled and tapped for the XP mounts. All R cases now for ptec engines that are ordered new will work in both rev and XP chassis. Should verify this info with BJ but I believe it to be correct.

In 2010 if I recall the PTO stub was beefed up as well. Thats a better option IMO to go with newer crank / Flywheel

Yes that is correct but was mainly due to the hole being drilled too deep into the pto end causing premature end breakage. Those cranks are shipped with a new bolt too.

OK...

replacement 2007 motors in 2009 should be XP cases...YES you can swap PTO/MAG ends but 4 new bearings and labor would be roughly$350/$400...that is cheaper than a DOO crank...BJ

Add shipping from Washington state & the price is getting close to a wash compared to a rebuilt from skidoo, unless I end up with a better, straighter crank. What's your recommendation &/or options.

doo crank is $695 or SHR spec is (trued/greased/seals) $795 plus shipping and shipping for core...

swapping yours around is under $450 even with shipping...your call...BJ
