07 RT power valve problems

i have an 07 rt 1000. i heard they make aluminum power valve gears. thery plastic ones swell up and do not move freeley anybody know anything about that

rt 1000

i heard that your supposed to beable to move the cables with your fingers like a stero nob. at full throttle it runs fine then you let off and hit it again and and it has a bog. sounds like they arent moving fast enough to open and close

If you pull the cables off the pulley on the head then yes they should turn pretty easy. They do have an updated set of gears, but I would clean them first if you have not done so already. I have to clean mine at least twice a season.

Have you installed a Thermostat yet?

rt 1000

ski doo has updated gears. ill try and find some. i cleaned the gears and have the same problems. no i have not installed a thermostat. should i.....i just bought the sled and have rode it 3 times. i have a little over 500 miles on it.

Two things, they will not turn correctly till there back in the sled. Second you will also need to remove the whole assembly and make sure the blades are clean.

Any dealer ( online or retail ) will be able to get you the gears, all six gears should run between 60-70 plus shipping. Just so you know the new gears are still plastic, just a new compound. Damage from over torqueing them will is more likely then swelling from oil.

I would give cleaning one more shot.

You will not be able to turn them unless the cables are disconnected.

Try this ... more then you need to know about E-raves. The cleaning and installation section should get you started. http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=278889

In 2006, BRP updated the gears so your 07 should already have the later style. However, I have seen the 06 and 07's swell and need to be replaced as well. The original 05's were the most problematic.

The cables can also go bad so it's a good idea to check those as well.
