Anyone ever heard of this one? Went for a ride near Jefferson yesterday, and flames started coming out of the machine. Looked like right below the brake area. No idea what caused it. Made a mess of the thing. Was this ever a recall situation? Any thoughts out there?

I have seen people leave the parking brake on and overheat the brake and start machines on fire.

lots of them!!! main cause is the brakes over heating, either from park brake on or ice build up behind the lever. lets see pictures.

Ditto what the other two said- leaving the parking brake on will catch the machine on fire if you ride for any length of time on it.

Had a friend that had one do that to him up at Arctic Man on the first day. They were able to get the fire out but it had burned the oil feed (probably not the right term, but you know what I mean) to the gas. So their fix was to run the machine with oil in the gas tank like with the old two strokes, just doing a pre-mix.

I hope the sled was able to be saved.

just happened to my 06 (about 3 weeks agoO)
ice build on on the lever and caused the brake to lock up

$4600CDN damages later and it will be FIXED
$1000 away from writing it off

known issue....hmmmm...wonder why they moved it to the opposite side on the xP????

My buddies Summit burnt down that way. Left the brake on at the parking lot and about 5 miles down the road it burst into flames. He BARELY got it out before it melted everthing.

Really makes a huge mess under the hood.

If you look down in between the brake rotor and the air box you will see the fuel lines so when the rotor gets hot it melts the fuel line and then it gets real hot. I rerouted mine and covered them in heat tape.

They are the hottest thing on snow, literally. Can gets hot also and can get things heated up under there.
