07 M8 setup

Hey guys. I"m sure this has been asked before but here I go anyway.

I bought an 07 M8 last year and it was my first time riding in about 15 years. I didnt touch anything on the sled other than put risers on. now that I have a year under my belt and getting to be a bit better rider, I'm thinking that there are some adjustments I can make to the sled to make it ride/handle better for me. I'm much bigger than the guy I bought the sled from so I'm guessing the clutch should be adjusted for my weight. Also, i would bet that some suspension adjustments would help also. dont get me wrong here, the sled is great, just from reading on here it sounds like there is some fine tuning I can to to make it better.

Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Thanks.

we have had luck with a orange/white spring in the primary, 70 gram weights and a 44/40 helix, this setup helps with the stocks sleds upshift! You can try moving the front arm mount down a hole and then the rear arm mount on the suspensions around. Power Pro skis help out on the trail, make sure your toe out is between 1/16"-1/4". There are somethings you can try.

I ride 5500-8000 mostly. I THINK I am about 8k RPMs. I will check tomorrow. What is the best way to check that, WOT on the flat, climbing or what?

I also forgot to mention that I bought the sled with a Speedwerx TI spring (not really sure what this is) and It is supposed to have Cutler adjustable weights.

Thanks.

I'm also riding an '07 M.. and here's my 2bits
As far as clutch tuning and peak horsepower goes, shoot for 7600-7800RPM... (adjust weights in your primary to hit that rpm range) Your spring should be fine, sounds as if it's a titanium one judging from that last post of yours.
If you like climbin' hills, or ride an awful lot in the deep stuff.. DALTON's 44/34 secondary helix has worked excellent in my '07. That "44" angle gives you a snappier hole-shot, while the "34" improves your shifts on a long-pull, per say. (STOCK helix is a 36 angle..) the 34 in this one sorta gives you "smaller gears" in a sense when backshifting OR while speeding-up (helps reach AND hold the rpm's at peakhorsepower, LONGER)
Other than that.. side-panel venting, lightweight seat, two-wheel-kit, single-pipe & Y ((SPEEDWERX works great, nice power boost AND decent weight savings! No need for a B/D box either with speedwerx)) and of course a lightweight-can, & your set. My scale showed 25-28lbs difference between the above listed lightweight add-ons! ...that's a big difference ;)
Hope this helps,
Whiskey

Hey Whiskey
took the family out today and had a great time. I did get a couple chances to look at my RPM's. It seemed like they would shoot up to about 7900 and then settle in about 7600-7700. However, I did glance at my belt and the sides are a little glossy. kinda looks like polished leather if that makes sense. I do have a new belt under the hood so I may switch them out and see how that works.

As far as you list goes, I do have the 2cool vents on both sides already. I have thought about the pipe and can, but i'm pretty new to this so I was thinking I should learn to use the power I already have before I get more. I would really like to lose a bit of weight upfront though. The pipe and can seems lot easier than going to the gym and getting stronger. LMAO Also, I hear a lot of people talking about the 2 wheel thing. What does that actually do?

Thanks to everyone that have answered this thread. I know very little about these sleds, but like to learn.

Two wheel kit will help improve sidehilling and agility. Allows the sled to roll easier. Also good to run skis in the narrow stance. Same effect. Hope this helps ya.

First things first, BDX Diamond Drive Lite . To drop 12 lbs and to save you the problems of a failed drive in the back country. Next buy an old style Boss seat for another few pounds.

The stock 07 needed weight in the primary , check to see if its still still stock. I bet you would be good with 09 part #s .
