07 m8 ice scratcher dilema

Just wondering what others have done for ice scratchers on the 07 m8. I bought a pair of the standard black style and the only way i can figure to mount them is behind the torsion springs, which puts them to far back to be truely effective. If i was to try to mount them in the prescribed area in front of the bogey wheels, the torsion springs are in the way. Any ideas or different kind of scratchers would be very helpful. Thanks in advance to all.

i removed the front bogey wheels, used the upper hole from the wheel mount for the spring end of the scratcher to go into, then drilled one hole behind it for the main mounting bolt. the bowed out part of the scratcher will just go around the torsion spring, and the scratcher end will also be supported by that extra little nub on the rail when you fold them up. so far i haven't noticed any accelerated hyfax wear with the bogeys gone and running the scratchers on the trail. guys also don't drill any holes and use the bogey wheel hole w/ the spring end just resting ontop of the rail so if (when) you back up it won't fold them, mine (ac scratchers) were not long enough to do this and clear the torsion spring in store mode...

ice scratchers

I thought about doing this but was worried about the hyfax wear. does anyone know how well the new black cable scratchers work? they seem a lot stiffer than the original gray/ clear coat ones.

I removed the bogie wheels on my skid and have no ice scratchers and have seen no excessive wear on the hi-fax, except last weekend when we rode on a few miles of packed icy trail. but everyone need scratcher sor something that ady. hence now i bought scratchers and have mounted them with no drilling where the bogey wheels used to be.

The Cablesliders (metal cable style) work great. Put them on my M1000 two rides ago. Since then, never got hot like I did every time before. AND...you can use them in reverse...u don't have to replace them if you forget. Their sweet.

Scratchers

I bought an adapter from SLP,that goes behind your front Bogey Wheel, then you can Run the wheel and also have the Scratcher

IMO the front boggie wheel makes my hyfax wear worse... if you look about 2 inches behind your front boggie wheel on your hyfax you will notice there is about a 6 inch spot where the hyfax is wore down much more than anywhere else... when i removed my boggie wheel the problem was gone and my hyfax has been good to go ever since.... maybe it was just me but it seemed to work

I also removed my front boggies and mounted the AC scrachers in the top hole. Clears the spring perfectly and not seeing more hyfax wear .. though in the spring that might be a different story. AC hyfax are inexpensive and easy to change.

thanks again to everyone. this site and the people on it are very cool. i always appreciate the help.
