Running a Y pipe, I would recommend getting it. It is just going to add a little fuel which will compensate for the Y pipe. What elevation you riding at?

I have not re-flashed my 07 but, I run a BD fuel box. I've been very leery of the flashes. With that said, I have a close friend who runs the 09 flash on his 08 M1000 with y and can.....stock pipe and it rips!

I had trouble with the reflash on my 08 m1000. Wish I hadn't done it because it ran perfect before. I had to have it done twice. Finally getting the bugs out. I run a D&D Y pipe, Jaws can and V-force reeds. I was able to control everthing with my boondocker. Now I have to reset my boondocker each ride, which is OK because now I have learned how to use it. Minor adjustments here and there. I also have a Koso A/F guage to keep an eye on things.
But in your case how does it run now? Problems? Check plugs and piston wash? You need to do a few things before you decide what route to take.
