07 m1000 pops(backfires) after i shut it off non updated ecm

After i ride for awhile i shut off and a second later boom a backfire about 3 out of 10 times. Have not done update yet worried about harming performance. I have a speedwerx can and y pipe on sled along with adjustable fuel pressure reg. Set about 49 psi. Ride at 5500-8500 elevation. Any input would help. Dont know about update to ecm, if it would fix it or cause more trouble thanks

The very first update for this sled took care of the backfire. But it did have some other things that were just as bad.

If you took it in now the only thing you could do is get the latest update with all the heat shields and such. This would take care of the backfire also. This is free due to a recall.

IMO I haven't had any trouble with the latest 09 reflash.

try letting it idle for a min before shutting it off.

My 07 M1000 did it almost every time before and after the update. My friends M8's also do it. If you let it idle for a few seconds before you shut it off it won't back fire.

Mine does it probably 5 out of 10. 08 with the reflash.

 

[RACINSTATION]

The reflash has a idle down portion added to the map that lets the sled idle down after you come to a stop. The easiest solution, as stated above is to let it idle for about 45 seconds after you come to a stop and it won't backfire. The 09 update cures a lot of this, but I have still seen some with the update backfire if they are stopped and shut down really quickly.

My 07 backfires like 5 outa 10 times to. But seems to help if you let it idle down before shutting it down. always funny to scare the crap outa your buddy beside you lol

mine backfires at startup yea baby and idles rich/lean look at it on o2 so what should i do. runs like a m/f anyways above idle actually above 5 i've never seen it surge racingstation.any help appreciated. and it says 08 reflash but after idle she runs good but at idle sounds like a john deere all loaded up

My 07 M8 backfires when I start it. Didn't notice until I installed MBRP can. I suppose it could have been doing it before but never heard it with the stock silencer. Don't know for sure. Any ideas???

My 07 M8 is also backfires when i start it...it only will do it once its been warmed up. I got a sno-stuff can on it...and has been on since i bought it new. It just started doing it.

You guys that are backfiring, how old are your plugs? Pull them and look at them. It may be time for a new set.

I like when mine lets out a big bang when someone is pulling my on skis when I'm stuck and I start the sled. I'v tried idling it down before shutting down, but still does it most of the time.
