07 M 1000 1_7 code need help please

Helping a buddy that started getting a 1_7 code (exhaust gas sensor) on his sled (07 M1000). He says it runs fine but he is nervous to take it out with us tomorrow. I pulled the sensor, cleaned it, spayed it with mass air flow cleaner. Air dryed it and no change.

Is this common, is there a typical fix? Hoping to get him out tomorrow. Thanks in advance. EW

It's a common problem. When mine went, it was a little hard starting and sometimes it didn't want to take off right away from idle. Other than than, it ran okay.

Thanks cles, so did you eventually replace it or just run it that way. EW

replace it when you can the sled will go into a fail safe mode and it will run real rough and be really rich but you will be ok for today

Thanks man, we'll give her a run. On the replacement, is it plug n play or is there splicing? Haven't traced out the wires yet. Wondering if we can do it on the deck? Thanks again. EW

There is a factory connector to unplug. Just unplug the old one and plug in the new one. I think they are around 100.00 for a new sensor.

I had to run it that way for two or three days...I replaced it as soon as I got back home. The new sensor comes with the wire and plug just like the old sensor...plug and play.

i bet i can find 7 other threads with the same question, from this week alone...;)

anywho, a common 470 ohm resistor found at any radio shack will fix this problem...sure you can replace the over priced thermistor, but they fail very quick when burning leaded fuel......so, ive got 4 rides on this resistor and everything is perfect, but, you must let the sled warm up for a couple minutes before you go WOT, as this resistor is telling the ECU you're engine is warm and ready to rip.....a cold seize would be easy to do with this mod, be smart:beer;

simply cut the two wires on the sensor side and solder in this resistor, use shrink wrap or whatever ya got....i zip tied mine to the wiring harness near the coolant bottle
