i have to pull the motor out of my 07 tomorrow to remove the crank. I have never taken the motor all the way out of a rev chassis so my ? is .is there anything i need to remove to make this job easy? besides the obvious clutches carbs air box pipe .. ps i have removed many engine so i sure i can figure it out. just looking for any tips on making it easy.

The one thing that might have you scratching your head (and wanting to strangle an engineer) is when you get to the last 2 wires and there is no plug....you have to actually disassemble a wire connector.
If you do a search on here or Dootalk you can probably find a picture if it doesn't make sense.

Have fun with the y-pipe bolts...that's all I could remember that was pretty tricky...otherwise, a second set of hands always helps! Good luck!

Hmmm....don't recall removing wires from a connector in the rev chassis? What'd I miss?

X2! Here is how to make quick work out of installing the y-pipe:

Get your ball allen wrench and a piece of paper or blue shop rag.

Lay some paper/shop rag between the allen wrench and the bolt. Add paper so you get the bolt to stay firmly on the allen wrench head. Adjust the bolt so it sits on the allen wrench straight.

Now, simply install the bolt. If you do it correctly you'll never have a fastener fall off.

X2! Don't remember the wires either.

Get your ball allen wrench and a piece of paper or blue shop rag. I suggest a mid-length set of ballen end socket. Sears $20.00

o0k i got the motor out. wasn't to bad all the wires were able to be unpluged with no trouble. it was i tight fit getting it out of the chassis though. i was thinking maybe would have been easier if i removed the rave valves first. and the rubber carb boots .is it possible to remove the boots and get them back on after i put the motor back in? and the rave ? also i had trouble removing the shield that covers the pto seal when i was splitting the case half's i had to drill and use a easy out because the screws where so tight the allen heads just stripped really p!$$ed me off . :face-icon-small-ton

Have fun with the y-pipe bolts :frusty: x3

I like to remove raves and reeds before pulling the motor, but it depends on your selection of tools...I hit the cases with a little heat from a map gas torch to crack those 4 screws, but sometimes that does not always work. I usually end up using a chisel on at least one of them, that works real well:whoo:
Sledsrock, not missing anything...those 2 wires are an xp thing

The Y pipe, seriously:doh: the stock R y pipe was the easiest y pipe to pill with those ugly dips. Allows you to get right in there pretty much a straight shot. One tool everyone should have is an extended ball end allen socket. I got mine at harbor freight:thumb: makes y pipe and rave removal almost fun!!!

You can also remove the bridge work above the engine and lift up. I did mine that way but I was redooing the nun. I did not have any wires I could not unplug.

gas

I ended up magnetizing a long allen head ball/socket for the y-pipe bolts.worked like a charm.
