07 Dragon came in the shop for rebuild. Everywhere it was parked, it left a puddle of oil on the floor. Took the pipe off and tipped it up and oil ran out of the pipe.

Now the owner is saying it uses twice as much oil as it did b4 the rebuild and is wondering if I turned the oiler up, which of course I did not.
The way that extra oil was running out of the pipe is definitely a sign that it was using way too much oil b4 it came here.

So is there some know problem that makes these start using too much oil?

Can a guy simply turn the oiler down?

Check the adjustment first. See if the mark on the lever and the pump housing line up or are close. If so then the pump may have failed. I had a big block that was using a bottle of oil (2 quarts) for every tank of gas. Replaced the pump and back to normal. If marks don't line up, before you adjust it make sure the cable housing hasn't been pulled out of the adjuster and is holding it way rich on oil. That sometimes happens when removing air box or motor.
