07 D7 RMK oil pump question?

Putting my bros motor back in his sled the other day and the notch on the oil pump arm does not line up with the notch (oil pump cable hooked up) on the pump casting, I thought that at closed throttle they should line up. The arm at closed throttle is open what I would think to be almost have way or at the point of half throttle any insight would help.

OIL PUMP SETTINGS

I have a picture of the oil pump posted in my TECH TIPS FOR 600/700/800 CFI thread.

Having the notches APPROXIMATELY close , AS A STARTING POINT.

When my marks were lined up the ratio was 37:1 from the factory.

My 2007 D7 (57:1 fuel/oil ratio currently) is approx 1/16" to an 1/8" light on the marks lining up at idle.

Hope this helps.

D7 oil pump

The factory setting method for the D7 was altered from what is "typical" - they put a second "non-permanent" mark on the pump and lined it up there. This new mark "advanced" the pump relative to the throttle opening and added more oil. For this reason, oil consumption varied drastically on the D7's. Some too little oil, others too much. In addition, even small changes in pump adjustment made drastic changes to the amount of oil used. Best suggestion is to leave it where it was for a start (unless the adjustment was lost completely), then monitor oil usage and readjust based on that. A good "rough measure" is one quart oil per 1 tank of fuel used.
