Found a nice holdover. Coming from an 02 F-350 CC Powerstroke. What now? Has the 5.9
Just don't go on any of the diesel websites spelling Cummins with a "g" in it...
I bought it, Auto tranny. Now I have to get it setup like my old 7.3, Not much experience with the 5.9 and looking for what works! First trip around the local Highways was 20.3 mpg on the computer. WOW
I'd buy it. The mega cab is nice. And the 5.9 is a way better motor than the 6.7
I think you are better off buying it over the new motor until they can free up some of the emissions on them.. They don't crap for mileage right now.. you will be better off and happier with a 5.9 from what I have seen.. not going down the road in limp mode becasue your trucks exhaust is clogged..
How do you figure that one? I know lots of guys that have had alot of trouble with the 5.9 and I haven't heard of any trouble with the 6.7 yet. The only trouble I've heard of with the 6.7 has to do with the emission stuff which wasn't on the 5.9. I had an 03 and by the time it had 25000 on it I had gone through two motors, a computer, and two lift pumps. There is no more trouble with the 6.7 than with the 5.9, it is gonna take a while for them to get the bugs worked out of the emission stuff and people have to run low sulfer fuel. One thing I do know is that if you have the 6.7, you have the 6 speed auto and you won't have to put a tranny in it every time you turn around, like the 4 speed. The failure rate of that tranny is over twice that of the Ford and GM automatics.
Two motors??????????? What in the heck re you doing with these trucks? You have to be the only person in history to go through two cummins motors in 25000 miles. These motors are bullet proof. Did you try putting oil in it?
