need to replace the brake rotor on a buddies sled and was wondering if there were any tricks to removing the chaincase. also does anyone know of an aftermarket source for the wave style brake rotor???

you may need a puller to get the rotor off
SLP in idaho makes a great aftermarket rotor
i shaves off weight and stops great
1lb of rotating mass is = to 7 pounds dead stationary weight
no real tricks to doing it just take your time and have a beer
check the chain and sprockets real well while your in there
for cracks or wear
if its a 800 mountain sled you may want to think about dropping a
tooth on the top sprocket
hope this helps:beer;

Yup:

1. Detension the track (be surprised at how many try to skip this step).
2. After get the gears and chain off and chaincase nuts off, lightly tap the case with a mallet to break it free.
3. Press down on the bellypan with your foot as you pull off the chaincase.
4. Put the nuts BACK ON the chaincase bolts so as not to loose track of any shims and their respective positions while you change out the rotor.

Have FUN!

you can change the brake rotor by taking the jackshaft out. no need to take the chaincase completely off. The rotor should slide off the jackshaft easily but be careful not to lose the key that holds the brake disc in place. Just take off the top gear in the chaincase to take the jackshaft out, and then the bolts that hold the jackshaft in place on your secondary side, and slide it out.
